I read somewhere that this had happened and some company had copied the image and they had ignored all requests to remove it, so the owner of the picture sent a bill for x amount per day that it was displayed and then took it through small claims court and won. Doesnt help in the short term, or in getting them to remove it but as a plan B you are perfectly entitled to charge them to use it in future and also for the use they have already had of it0

Definately send a Cease and Desist - I sent this by email in our case ...

It has come to our attention that your website, www.xyz.com, is using an image, by way of a web link, originating from the (Our Company) Ltd website www.abc.co.uk
The image in question is called "our-company image.gif", and is a copyrighted image. You are accessing the image via the link http://www.abc.co.uk/resources/images/our-company image.gif from your page http://www.xyz.com/index.php
The use of the above image is unauthorised and without our consent or agreement.
We request that you immediately cease and desist from using the above image. Should you not do so, we reserve the right to take necessary legal action against you to protect our site and the image in question.

If you use a program such as Photoshop, you can edit the EXIF (extended information) part of the image. This then stays with the image whereever it goes, thus making it impossible for image thieves to prove it is 'thiers'.Never Knowingly Understood.

Ah thanks for that! My bro in law was on about this today but couldn't remember exactly how to do it - think I'll do this as well as I do use photoshop.0
