I'm an OSer so white vinegar instead of fabric conditioner and open a window instead of air freshner

I think I probably spend about £20 a year on cleaning products.

Wow that is fantastic! Do you use white vinegar for everything then?

Skintscotslass - I'm the same - my bottle of Stardrops has lasted ages dilutred with water and white vinegar in a spray bottle, and I follow the white vinegar as fabric softener too. Works a treat! Also another one here who hates air fresheners too - nasty chemically things. We do keep a can in the bathroom though in case there are any visitors who feel they want a quick squirt after they've used the loo......

Ive got dry excema and Ill be honest, I find the fewer products - particularly cleaning products I use- the better it is. ( less itchy)

IMHO its just an extra product made from artificial chemicals- if it was me I'd do without it or if you cant bring yourself to do without, try the vinegar.

The OS'ers main kit is Stardrops, White vinegar and bicarb KK - we generally find that a combination of the three works wonders on most things! Other tricks like using half the amount of certain products also - for example, if it says use two washing powder tablets, one, augmented with a scoop of soda crystals, is just as effective. Some OS'ers also cut dishwasher tablets in half but I have to admit to thinking life is too short for that....I just buy the cheapest ones I can find instead! :rotfl:

I tend to use a product called stardrops. I havent bought it for ages cos it lasts so long! For general cleaning I decant and dilute the stardrops in a spray bottle. For windows etc I dilute the white vinegar into a spray bottle as well. I buy a big container of white vinegar from Costco, I think its 5l. I cant remember how much either costs but they are v v cheap Also, along with toiletries etc, I went through a period of buying loads of cleaning products, so I'm working my way through them too.

The Old Style Board has loads of info on both stardrops and white vinegar. Some people mix stardrops, white vinegar and water but it smells like cat pee to me

Oooh I have some Stardrops- my mum gave it me to clean our carpets. Will go over to OS and have a look how else tp use it thanks girlies

ok just had a quick look and it looks FAB! Going to read it all through properly and once I've used my cleaning stash will definitely give it a go.

So do you think I could realistically make my cleaning budget £60?
