    So unhappy!

I went to my house (which is for sale, my ex-husband is living there, long story) to collect some of my remaining posessions before the divorce etc gets finalised and to my horror there was another suitcase full of toiletries and hair products..........................:eek::eek:
Just as I thought Iwas getting down the stuff I moved in August there is so much more.

Some of what I can remember, I haven't looked closely, is

    6 x Dove deodarant (I bought 4 on Friday)
    64 sachets of moisturiser/cleanser/face oil
12 tubes anti aging serums (various)
15 small pots boots hydroquench, all half used.
9 packets facial wipes (bought 3 on Friday)
    4 cans mousse
    2cans hairspray
6 cans shine spray (all half used and I don't like it)
A bottle of Tommy Guns dew drops (so excited as I can't seem to find it anywhere):T

So, my expected date of using all of my stash by Easter 2010 is now Christams 2010.

I was starting to feel good, but have had a relapse:(

Nope - that's not a realapse: that's still dealing with the initial problem. Don't worry, as you can't possibly find any more after that, surely!

    I've been Money Tipped!
As a matter of interest, I'm interested in if people are resolving, not just which individual products not to buy again, but which type of products you'll no longer buy?

I have some cleansers I love using, but since starting OIL cleansing I will keep one in the house...but it miht be one of the ones I already own! Similarly, I almost never use bubble bath now: I do love bath bombs, and bath melts, but really I'm a bath oil type of gal. And Shampoo, I realise that washing with conditioner only more often means I could reduce by about 75% or more the shampoo I buy in ratio to conditioner, possibly more! Gradual tan stuff is out from now on. I prefer tubs to tubes of stuff, and scent preferences have evolved.

Its not just working through the stash, its making sure that I don't end up with madly unused products ever again!

I tend to shower a lot and bathe practically not-at-all, so I don't buy bubble baths etc., although I do still get some in gift sets etc. should I feel the need. I think having a stash of 6 shower gels, toothpastes, mouthwashes and soaps in is OK as they are the ones I/we use (ad get through) all the time, but everything else I am going to try to keep to the '1 in use + 1 backup' rule once I've whittled down my supplies.

In a similar vein, I'm not likely to buy SImple cleanser again as I don't find it all that good (that's the one I'm currently using).

I really hope not, I feel quite ashamed of all of the stuff I have bought and not used. I am hoping to do a car boot sale in a couple of weeks so might take some of the sachets to that and off load them onto some one else

That pack was on sale on Amazon for £3.17 before Christmas, it's lush!
Superdrug regularly have deals on Aussie, just in case you start to get really hooked on it ;)

I wish i had known! i love Aussie, apart from lush shampoo bars its all i use to wash my hair. - i've even converted OH's dad to fan when i left some shampoo there years ago! he said he snapped up about 10 bottles of shampoo the other day for £2 a bottle!

    Snipped.

Hi, quicky post before i get started on housework, but yes, there are products i will definately not buy again, eg eyeshadow, they tempt me by their pretty packaging and are so cute in your hand bag yet when i actually wear it i tend to go for a smokey eyes look that goes with everything:o. Other examples include false nails, dont use them, too fiddly with 3 kids, did seem a good idea at the time though.
But i must say i have always had a supply of shampoo/ conditioner and handwash in the house cause i have long hair and get through it and te 3 kids and hubby ave curly hair so again need quite a bit to get a good clean. This said my supply of approx 20shampoos does seem a tad excessive:eek:.

    Nab

    None of it!

Really I will just buy Aussie Shampoo and conditioner,
    Radox shower gel,
    Silverkrin hairspray,
    a serum,
asda smart price mousse, (I like it!)
a moisturiser, not decided which yet as I have so many darn samples to use,
    Asda facial wipes
bubble bath, not bothered really what as I don't have many baths.
Makeup I will only ever replace when it is used, repeat green eye shadow does not suit you!!

Things like body scrubs/body butter or moisturisers for bodies I will have to see out of my stash which I really like and only buy one at a time

I will not buy any more foot products as I have a pedicure once a month and no nail varnish, I never paint my finger nails and the pedicurist uses hers on my toes.
No more fake tan, if I feel I should want one, I will have it done in a shop, no more streaks or blobs on the carpet.
No more products for under the eyes, none have made a difference
No more anti aging serum, they didn't work either.
I will not be taken in with fancy packaging or miracle claims EVER again.

But this small list is someway off in the distant future, hopefull I can have a bit of a stock up in nexts years Boots 75% sale :rotfl:

I've put them in my toiletries bag for when I go away, so I save money and space when on holiday! ;) (If I ever get one, that is!)

  • Hi. Am getting through my stash slowly. Anyone noticed that some things, generally the ones you don't particularly like, last for ages when you're making a real effort to use them up?! I don't really like Eight Hour Cream (meant to be the saviour of all womankind) but it's lasting forever! I'm making an effort to use up products so I'm hoping that I'll be much improved soon.

As for serums, I'm now using up an old Olay one and love it. I'm not sure what I'll do when it runs out. Can anyone recommend one? Is the hype true about Boots P&P?

Was just thinking this last night!

Body creams/butters over body lotions was mentioned recently, I'd certainly go with that in future.

I'm definitely NEVER buying those random own-brand gift sets that M&S/Boots do any more ever. I kinda used to think they were a nice little token gift or stocking filler , it's eventually dawned on me that in our consumer society with our embarrassment of goodies :o:o:o, nobody (self included) really wants them. Although feel slightly uncomfortable saying this when you think of how few luxuries many women in this world actually have.

With oil cleansing, no spending needed now on cleansers, wipes and toners which is a massive saving.

With family, I'm going to try, in the nicest possible way, to have my present wish list, rather than getting random stuff.

I've been mindful of this because, I'm actually coming to the end of my stash of a lot of stuff. What I'm looking forward to is replacing items with the best, most effective product I can find in each category. I've minimised a lot of my life over the last few years and would really like a pared down kit of stuff that REALLY works.
