Which 32" TV-choice of four? (Decided on Sony Bravia)

Thanks for all your replies.
Richer Sounds is miles from us, and only having a dinky car, would be a problem for me getting a 32" home.
I have a Panasonic Viera myself and find it good value, but, am slightly put off buying one for the parents by having only one year warranty. The one at Amazon looks good, but again, only comes with one year. I have noticed that SONY are currently offering 3 years on most of their TV's at moment. JL are also an obvious choice with their 5 year warranty, but you are of course, paying slightly more for this.
My parents originally purchased a Toshiba 27WLT56B two years ago, and, within 6 months, it developed a think dark vertical line down the screen which has now developed into 5 or 6 thick dark (and red) lines. I wish they had told me when they first noticed the problem, but now the TV is outside of it's warranty, this is why they just want shot of it & won't be buying Toshiba again. (I have e-mailed Toshiba for their comments but have yet to receive a reply).
Your comments are appreciated and I just need to consider whether to go with a cheaper TV with 1 year cover, a mid-range Sony with 3 years, or go with John Lewis, and get the 5 years cover.
My parents are slightly concerned that come 1st Jan, the VAT will be going up which will cause higher prices, can't personally see the large stores hiking up their prices in todays climate-won't thet just cover the extra 2.5% themselves?"Hope for the Best

General question - I see that quite a few folk are wanting long guarantees on their tellys. Surely if it stops working after the guarantee has run out there is Sale of Goods Act "fit for purpose" argument to be had? Perhaps I'm missing something!!£2 coin savings = zero (I never get any £2 coins 'cos the rest of you are hogging them in your piggy banks!) :rotfl:0

If you're buying an LCD tv, you can't beat Samsung.
Their 32" Series 3, model number LE32B350, is £249.99 in Richer Sounds (here) and is the cheapest I've found (after several hours of looking!!), however if you want to get the best you can afford for a £300 budget then their latest series 4 model, the LE32B450CXXU, is £299.99 from the same supplier (here).
Richer Sounds are a specialist retailer as well, meaning you will not only receive great service, but they will have specialist technical knowledge as well. I would highly recommend them.
Oh and no I don't work for them lol!GREENS M'SHIP OFFER NOW CLOSED SO PLEASE DON'T ASK ME!Olympic Debt-free Challenge £2150/£11900 = 18.0%NOW INVESTIGATING AN ALTERNATIVE TO MY IVA - I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND ONE ANY MORE!0 -

Thanks for the info - looks like RS is def the best option. I've just rang the nearest store to me but unfortunately, all the models I've quoted are OOS. However, they have told me that they are receiving a big stock delivery tomorrow.
Will try and get down there at some point this week, just need to borrow a bigger car! Thanks again for all your replies."Hope for the Best

Branches can/will transfer stock amongst themselves if required, although obviously in this case it'll take longer than ust waiing for their next delivery!

You should be able to get it on the back seat of a normal small hatchback and they are easy enough to be carried by one person.
Also the Samsungs thave only the one Scart socket so if you use more than one you will need to change to different leads.Damned if you do.....Damned if you don't !?!0 -

03 NUMBERS ARE NOT PREMIUM RATE NUMBERS! 03 numbers connect you directly to the store you call and are charged at the same rate as you are charged for numbers starting 01 and 02.
If the store is very busy you may be transferred to our central support team at no additional charge. 03 numbers are included in all bundle rates for mobile phones and landlines."Hope for the Best

I did ring Richer Sounds again but, all the TV's I quoted were still out of stock.
In the end, we decided on this one from Dixons-free delivery plus QUIDCO cashback.
The 3 year waranty clinched it with my parents due to the problems with their previous Toshiba
