T715 + MicroSD Woes :(

we bought our kids some phones, Sony Eriksson T715, and read that they use microSD format memory cards, so we bought a couple of those as well. (2Gb Sandisk from Tesco)
The cards show up when phone status is checked, but we seem unable to save any data (music) onto them.
The PC suite phone manager doesn't allow any access to the memory cards
The SEK website suggests we can move data to the card by "Select Menu > Organiser > File Manager." except file manager doesn't seem to exist
Any advice would be great, my kids are upset at only having 12 'songs' and the phone memory is full

Did you format the card using the phone memory manager.
Also when you plug the phone into pc, do you get a prompt saying use "PC Suite", "Data Mode" - the latter gives you easiest way to copy data as you get a drive icon in pc windows explorer. You have to select one or other to be able to copy data to/from card to pc.
Further did you check for compatibility of the card with that phone? Not just "micro sd", that they are officially compatible? But I think your problem is probably just formatting issue.0 -
well - that was odd
on further investigation 1 card was working, so I put that into the other phone and it was recognised. On the other phone I then took 1 photo and saved to memory card, then swopped the cards over and reconnected to the PC - memory card visible
moved the music across from phone memory to the card and hopefully everything is now good
thanks for the suggestion, sadly I didn't get a microsd to USB convertor (I thought I had one) so was unable to access any format options via pcsuite (none there) or PC, but all sorted now.
Next job is to ensure they cannot rack up a bill...in a few minutes yesterday one found them found youtube - £4 later....
So..internet is turned offUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
You do not need usb adapater to do the format. The phone itself can do the format - its usually tricky to find sometimes but its usually something like settings-memory and some obscure menu option to do the format.
Check the phone manual but there is normally a settings. Also if card can be connected via phone to pc in data mode (you can format the drive letter that appears - make sure its the right one - format to FAT file format should do the trick). But try the phone approach first.
Stopping internet usage is easy - just put some duff settings in for the data settings on the phone - they cant connect to web then (unless they change it back)
