No, its free fitting of the product you've bought from Halfords. The OP was planning on buying the fascia and the brackets elsewhere so unless the OP fits them themselves, there's likely to be a charge.

... and thats why its best to read all the posts before replying.

No longer think it will be an issue.

I wont get the stereo fitted for a week or so until the ebay parts arrive.

The stereo is sitting in a halfords bag so will just chuck in the facia cover and clips when they arrive (with no packaging on)

As the part numbers are the same he wont be checking to ensure they were obtained from the parts dept at Halfords.

All he will care about is all the bits being in the bag and he needs to fix them.

    Job done.

Where is this free fitting offer you speak of? Can't see it on the website?

If you are going to fit the facia surround you may as well fit the whole thing. I know it's free but you are still going to be stuck there for hours (15mins to fit, 45 mins sat in waiting area for them to call your car forward).

They are only going to fit an adaptor to the harness, plug the thing in and secure it all.
I would rather do that in 10 mins at home and be on my way.

You have to buy a really crap stereo to not get free fitting,

Also its unlikely to be a problem. Whats to say the OP doesnt already have the parts from a previous stereo he wanted to upgrade.

The stereo is a sendai model CD889 for £59.99.

Its had lots of reviews and most very positive.

I can play my ipod on it through the aux in socket at the front but it also has a usb slot and takes an SD card which is useful. They keep bringing the price down and finally decided to take the plunge yesterday. It also comes with a remote control which isnt mentioned in the Halfords advert.

If you look on the product page there is a tick box for free fitting (instore) or at home for a charge.

Worth noting this option is only available online - saw a couple of people try and buy instore yesterday and were told NO FREE FITTING - online option only.

£60 fitted was cheap enough to make me take the plunge.

Ah found it. Seems that free fitting is only available on the sendai units, not any of the proper brands (sony/jvc etc). I am a bit dubious about the quality of these, as I do intend to hook one up to some decent speakers I have. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
