    You do if it is booked at a distance, i.e over the phone as in this case, then DSR apply.

    From the link;-
    "Do the DSRs apply to the sale of gift vouchers?
    2.15 Yes. In our view, the provision of gift vouchers is a contract for the supply of a service. The provision of vouchers that are in the form of electronic money (such as a card with a magnetic strip that may be accepted as a form of payment) may be considered the provision of a ’financial service’ and so the FSDMRs will apply."

    Don't forget you have 7 WORKING days, beginning with the day after receipt of goods to inform them that you are returning under DSR, this can be by e-mail, but not by phone.

    As Derricks initial quote says, the DSR only covers the vouchers in the form of plastic cards with magnetic strips (ie like credit cards). Dunno what you recieved, but most vouchers I have seen from salons tend not to fit this description.

    They are not suggesting that only,"plastic cards with magnetic strips" are covered, as they are in two different sentences, I am sure that all vouchers conform and that they are elaborating on the electronic ones.

    Just because you purchase something by phone doesn't necessarily mean that the DSRs apply. The DSRs only apply to retailers that "normally" conduct their business via a remote medium, ie, internet, mail order etc.

    Hence my post #8 ;)

    A few reasons they may not apply;

    They dont normally sell by distance

    Contracts to provide accommodation, transport, catering or leisure
    services (for example hotel accommodation; plane, train, or concert
    tickets; car hire;10 or sporting events) where you agree to provide
    the service on a specific date or within a specific period. However,
    long-term residential hotel accommodation agreed under a distance
    contract may be considered to be rented accommodation and
    therefore subject to the DSRs.

    Beauty treatments - leisure ?

  • You could sell it on ebay if you get stuck?
