Help with nokia phone please
Hi there
Looking for a bit of help.
I bought my son a new Nokia phone on Vodaphone network. As his old one is also on Vodaphone the guy in shop said to just swap over his sim card and memory card and it would be fine. (I know we're probably doing something wrong), but when he swapped over he had no contact details or anything. He put them back in to his old phone to get a note of his contacts and it won't work now. It's saying "Use phone without sim?"
The new phone seems to be ok and he has been getting texts in but without the names.
Does anybody have any suggestions what could have happened or how we could get it to work again?
Old phone is Nokia Express Music....new phone is Nokia 6300.
Thanks
Lola

His contacts were probably stored in the phones memory rather than the SIM, It should be possible to copy them over using bluetooth, or by putting the SIM back in the old phone and moving all the contacts onto the SIM.
Check out the Organise section of the handbook. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

We'll give it a try. Not sure where old handbook is.

It's just not letting us get anything at all.
No contacts, music or pics on old phone now or new one.
Old phone was ok before he took sim and memory card out and thought it would all be on new phone.
Looks like he has lost everything.

Hi Lola23,
Like penrhyn has said his contacts/pictures might be stored in the phones memory and need copying over on to the SIM and memory card. The link below shows how to copy contact on to the SIM card http://help.vodafone.co.uk/system/selfservice.controller?CMD=BROWSE_TOPIC&PARTITION_ID=1&CONFIGURATION=1058&SIDE_LINK_SUB_TOPIC_ID=26783&SIDE_LINK_TOPIC_ID=19349&TOPIC_ID=26783&TOPIC_TYPE=0&STARTING_ID=0&TOPIC_NAME=Hints%20and%20tips%20from%20us%20and%20our%20users&PARENT_TOPIC_ID=19349&PARENT_TOPIC_TYPE=0&SOURCE_FORM=BROWSE_TOPIC
If your still having problems i would suggest to take both phones back to the store and see of they can do it for you.
Hope that is of help.
