Slow Virgin Mobile 3G Speeds?
I'm on Virgin Mobile with a 1GB ("unlimited") internet bundle on my phone. I use a Nokia 5800XM with Opera Mobile 10 Beta (fabulous browser btw and it's free at the moment!)
Previously I was on T-Mobile and the 3G speeds I got in the same place, were a consistant 300-384Kbps (capped at 384Kbps due to me having the standard Web n Walk)
On Virgin I notice that I often only get around 120Kbps rising to around 280Kbps at certain times, if I'm lucky. MSN messenger and everything works which was blocked on T-Mo, so I'm grateful for that (it is against the terms...) but I would like a bit more speed.
Is anyone else aware of the problem? Have they managed to get Virgin Mobile to do something as it seems like they are restricting throughput (or T-Mo are, but the network didn't feel congested) It's always been like this for me since changing to VM, so I don't think they are restricting my use (which is typically about 150MB though last month I used around 550MB)
I use http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?t=1&s=1024&w= which on WIFI reports much higher speeds (as expected) so pretty sure the handset isn't at fault.
Thanks!!
