Norton

The new computer came with 60 days use of Norton anti virus, then you have to buy it. I prefer AVG so at the end of the 60 days can I un-install the norton and replace it with AVG????? I have had problems with Norton in the past causing computers to crash.
Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

  • I wouldn't even bother with the trial. Just uninstall it right off the bat, you didn't pay anything so aren't losing any money.
Sometimes i surprise myself by being right.
  • AVG fared extremely poorly in the recent AV-Comparatives testing. Microsoft Security Essentials scored consistently high in performance, detection and removal.

Yes. I have a preference for Avast but opinions differ on this sub-forum ;)

SOFTWARE MONOPOLIST Microsoft makes the best free anti-virus program on the market, it seems.
According to anti-malware testing group AV-Comparatives.org Microsoft Security Essentials got its top rating.

I would have to recommend MSE or Avira AntiVir. I know AVAST is good too but I haven't personally used it.

AVG has been performing very badly compared with the competition these days as computershack said.

I use Avira and the free version gives you one big pop up advert every day. It doesn't bother me in the slightest but it bothers my girlfriend when she's playing Sims and it interrupts her game. Avira really doesn't impact your systems performance much.

I had AVG on the computer that the virus has mucked uo, I did wonder if it was as good as it was, I think it let the virus through. When I ran the virus checker it said the computer was ok. Is the MSE a free one or do you have to pay for it????? I do like to try thinhgs before I shell out. But relaise I need a really good Anti virus as I spend quite a lot of time on the internet as well as runnning all our finances through it.

Any advice gratefully recieved....and again many thants, you lot are brilliant!!!

    MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL..............

You may think you have removed Norton, to make sure download and run the Norton removal tool from the Symantec website.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

How are you getting on with the MSE - my Norton due for renewal in 3 days - considering totally removing it - was thinking about ? Kapersky (sp) but of MSE recommended and 'free'!! would go with it.
Do use internet a lot too for personal finance etc so would need to be a decent programme.
