Hazel - what lovely pressies and for next to nothing..........well done :T Just goes to show there's no need to spend a lot of money.
I've been trying to re-cycle this year with button necklaces from mums button jar, handbag charms from sets of beads I don't use anymore -stuff like that. Think I must have saved myself a lot......just as well as I'm doing family tree scrapbooks for my two sons this year and thats cost enough !!! (paper, ink, more ink.......embellishments etc.)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I won a silhouette machine (like a craft robo) poppy and have spent 4 days designing a box and getting the machine to cut it for me.....you can buy the files for less than a £1 but the boxes were too small for what I wanted, so I designed my own using 2 sheets of A4 card. Thats why it took so long.
I had not used the software before and had to learn how to use software before, cutting, so I had bits of A4 paper everywhere with drawings to scale on and then was trying to duplicate in the software, it was a challenge but now I can cut anysize box to suit my needs.
I also made a card in the shape of an house yesterday , I blogged it and that was great, I saved the design and can now cut as many as I want without scissors.
I suppose the posibilities are endless but I`m a complete novice lol xx
And I`ve got the hoogie board. But this machine is ace just takes abit of getting used to...
O haha a bit more technical than my little boards!

Hope your scrapbooking is going well Mary.
I`m making three scrapbooks this year containing pics of my baby boy Thomas for my Mum, Sis and MIL. I got the Papermania back to bare basics albums from The Papermill Store and some books from the library for inspiration. The pages take a lot of planning! I`m going to make some boxes for them using my score boards so they can be keepsakes and line the boxes with acid free tissue.0 -

poppy - scrapbooking is coming on fine..........having a bit of a rest from it for a few days while I try and find some sort of verse to put on the inside of it that'll suit both my sons.
Bit miffed -yesterday youngest son rang to say he and his girlfriend had parted company and he was worried I'd have made a load of bits for her (she has a birthday as well as christmas).........I told him I hadn't but truth is I have  Bit of panic set in but then I counted up the females on my list and I can give them all something extra.........and maybe keep some for me............:T
No crafting done today..........covered shoe box in red textured paper for christmas pressies then had visitor so everything came to a stop ! Was going to attempt covering a wooden box with newspaper and then going over it with cold tea to age it a bit.......oh well, there's always another day:rotfl:I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Thank you all for making me feel so welcome! xxx
Susan - I made the vinyl record bowls from this site craftbits dot com/project/vinyl-lp-record-bowl (sorry I cant link to it - Too new!) Dont be put off by the piccies - it looks better in real life! Although it says to wait until the record is soft and then squish it into the other bowl to shape it. I didnt - I only had quite a small pyrex bowl so I sat it on top and then when it started to droop I moulded it into "ruffles" with my hands (wearing oven gloves - its hot!) over the outside of the pyrex bowl. I had quite quirky records ie Rolf Harris' Greatest Hits etc so I cut the actual record sleeve into 9 equal sized cubes, glued the front and back together then varnished them and sat them iside the bowl as coasters. They were too thick to go through my laminaterNail Varnish seemed to work ok tho. If you have money to go get the self laminating stuff from Rymans then that works well too
That site is also good for making vinyl record earring holders.
The murder mystery thing I found randomly online. I'll see if I can re-find it and post the link on here for you. It was fun, unusual...but used up quite a bit of printer paper! :rotfl:She believed she could, so she did.0 -
Amazingly I've managed to find it! Argh still cant link properly but try this! You might need to do some space deleting to get it to work.
(no w's) homepage.ntlworld dot com/j.coutts1/games.htm
I've also found:
(3 w's).whodunitmysteries dot com / sour.html
(no www) red-herring-games dot co dot uk / catalog/-c-36.html
(3 w's).scribd dot com / doc/8294979/The-Little-Engine-That-Could-Kill
although I've not looked at them properly.
Cant vouch for how good any of them are as none of the people I gave them to has had their murder mystery evening yet. Or if they have, they didnt invite me!She believed she could, so she did.0 -
northlondonchick - I really meant to do one of those vynl bowls and love the idea of making coasters from the sleeve.............been trying to think of 'male' things for christmas and this might fill the void.......well for some anyway.
Think i got put off by the hot oven part and was sure I'd make a pigs ear of it............lol :rotfl: but nothing ventured nothing gained as they say......;)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
