I know it is not moral, but it is acceptable, considering the following scenario, you drive your car to meet your friend for a planeed trip in theyr car, triy to start their car but fails to stop, you are a passanger then, you are entitled the breakdown service. I know is a bit abusive but it is better than joining a breakdown service knowingly that your car is already broken down

If you, or any fried will have such account you can call the bank to check. My barclays states that I am covered for breakdowns when I am traveling in any car (except the hire cars); but for exampe if I travel in a friend car, and the car breaks down, I can call and the vehicle will be recovered. I am alowed 5 call outs/year and once I just helped my friend out of a situation exacly like yours-- I drove to the supermarket, parked my car there, call the breakdown cover in my name(but my friend car)-- all sorted.
Slightly off-topic but how much does that current account cost you in fees/charges?

For many people it would work out cheaper to ditch the paid current account in favour of a free one and use the savings to buy the specific products such as travel insurance/breakdown cover separately and still have some change remaining.

you might be right, in certain circumstances the sums just don't add up; for myself is good value for money as my wife and I have a joint account, so we have 2 breackdown very comprehenisive covers(including EU-- which we use), 2 cars, travel insurances, fraud prevention, emergency cover, free overdraft(ony in 300 interest free overdraft is better than keeping 300 on a typical credit card -- which is £40 for 1 year) etc. All the benefits are adding up at more than what we pay for.
