Filter for combi boiler??

  • We get a lot of calls from customers who ask for quotes for Power flushs, because BG won't keep the service plan going unless one is completed.

We charge £250 for a power flush, BG charge in the region of £550. As a company, we don't like doing power flushs, we prefer to add a chemical, let it run throu the system for around 3 days, then drain it down while hot. We then stick the machine on for a few hours, running it throu every single rad, and we have had no problems.

Problem with inhibitor is if someone drains the system and forgets to put it back in. They do work, but are a pain for older people sometimes

. As I pointed out to oldwiring (but he ignored me )
Were you expecting a resposnse then? My later post was hardly ignoring you as it had nothing to do with scale filters. It was trying to be helpful by listing two other forums that are worthwhile for anything to do with central heating ( and of course other house type matters.

So what's wrong with that? Tell me!

Well yes I suppose I was. If peeps direct particular points particularly to me I tend to feel it demands some sort of response from me. Perhaps I expect too much?

Indeed so and you were. I'd highly recommend UHM as well. If you want a laugh (cos surely its a comedy show particularly plumbing and electrics) you can chuck the Screwfix forums into the mix as well.

i recomend the magnaclean, they are worth the money.
i had one fitted when i had the new combi fitted "not by bg"

any particles in the system stick to the magnetic filter, so theyre not flowing through the boiler.
good preventive maintenance in my opinion. very easy to clean too, just 2 isolator valves to turn. a 2 minute job.

Watch out for the guy who posts as !!!!!! Puller - some of the language gets a bit fruity though so be warned if that troubles you at all. The admins usually edit very quickly tho'.

Oh - no sorry if I was unclear. No it was tother way round. In phrasing it the way I did I was saying how I would react if the boot was on the other foot. Which in this case it wasn't. Does that make sense? No? Oh! Sorry!

  • DH is sitting next to me now and I have just shown him this, he says that the magnaclean is a filter which removes metal particles or iron oxide particles from the central heating water, which prevents it building up in the central heating components.

As for old people cleaning it out and finding it hard to do so, it is cleaned out with the yearly service.

I got it wrong re the taps and gunk, typical female :D

As I say dh has fitted one to ours and wouldn't if he thought they were rubbish.
