Ending O2 contract

I'm a bit confused by this.

Currently in an O2 18 month contract, due to end on 23rd January, so from 23rd December I can start looking around. Now I know that O2 don't appear to be doing any deals at the minute so I am thinking of moving to Vodaphone on a sim only deal.

I think I need to inform O2 that I want to end the contract today, for the 23rd January and ask for a PAC, then as it takes around 5 days to port over to Vodaphone, I need to wait about 25 days to buy the sim from Vodaphone.

Does that sound right?

Sounds like a plan - just ask for PAC code, they might offer you something, they might not. O2 only offer retention offers 30 days prior to end of contract date.

Get your pac code to be on safe side and use it within 30 days - contract ends. Trying to write to them now will mean a few more added days to the contract plus ensuring its received by them etc etc.

My bro has a contract with them ending on 31st Jan - he already has got a new vodafone contract. With the O2 contract he has asked to move to pay and go and they advised he phone up on 31st Dec and they will send out a pay and go sim card by 31st jan.
