Tiscali's Unlimited... Broadband Or Access?? Which Is It?? Downloaders Beware

So...
Tiscali sell 2mb unlimited broadband at £14.99
They say.....
"Ideal if you are a heavy internet user and want blistering fast broadband that's up to 40 times faster than dial up. This package is perfect for frequent downloaders, giving you the very best online performance and unlimited usage every month"
Thats cheap you think
But they have a FUP so p2p and other downloads could be affected during peak hours.
No problem, as it's only fair hey.
But then, whats this? Seems Tiscali don't take to kindly to p2p, so they throttle all p2p traffic 24hrs a day so the average d/l speed is 5-10kps.
Now this doesn't seem to be the cheap service it claims to be.
£14.99 for dail-up speeds, yeah right.
How the hell can they get away with ripping their customers off like this. Surely it must be some sort of trades description act. How can they claim it's unlimited if they are purposly slowing down p2p traffic.
Now I totaly understand the need for a fair usage policy, as greedy customers would take advantage and it wouldn't be fair on the less demanding customer. Well im that customer, And leaving because of it. A simple song of Itunes was taking 45 minutes to download. Outside of the fup hours of 6pm and 11pm.
They make me so angry. Has anyone else been having the same problems?
So just a warning to people swinging towards the direction of tiscali who want to download the odd song here and there. It aint worth it. I've also noticed they have changed their new adverts. They now say Unlimited ACCESS and not BROADBAND. Wonder why that is?
If however, you are just after browsing the web and downloading the odd service pack file then they offer a faultless service.
I'm now off to the new BT total broadband. Just hope I have made the right choice.

Most broadband providers are doing the same thing or similar, the ones that don't are few and far between and often unlimited packages which cost £25 - £30 a month.
With the advent of legal streaming over p2p and legal downloads the number of high speed subscribers and the amount of demand on bandwidth over the coming years is likely to increase substantially, all around the same infrastructure which is already having to be throttled!.

I was just about to say that most BB providers now have this cap in place but chris beat me to it.
I am with tiscali paying £12.99 for 1mg and in rush hour times I get anything from 10-35kbs but at night or morning I have had as fast as 120kbsWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0
