Orange/Wanadoo--- such a bad service!!!

I'm so fed up with them i had to write a thread... last month i decided, after reading Martin's article etc to change broadband provider... i was paying 17.99 with wanadoo. phoned them to cancel and they offer me 14.99 with one month free.. which comes about the same as others and less hassle to change etc. but he said i would have the same speed up to 8mg etcetc.. since then they debited my account twice... and put me on a slower line.. i keep phoning there 0870 number (cant find alternative) and they won't budge.. I have given my wanadoo address to so many newsletters/surveys/panels..that it seems easier to stay but now i think i will leave...not sure to which ones though....
Sorry i had to share... I've calmed down a bit now :-)
anybody who had good experience do let me know...

I am going to try and get my MAC code off them soon as I've had enough. For future reference, the https://www.saynoto0870.com website has these alternative numbers listed for Wanadoo/Orange:

    Customer Support - Wireless & Talk Customer services Middlesbrough (0870 0102462) : alternative number is 01642 732784

    Technical Support Middlesbrough (0870 2202002) : alternative numbers are 01642 732773 and 01642 732772

    Registrations (0870 8720099): alternative number is 01642 732793

Rang Wannadoo in april trying to change to a cheaper broadband supplier and put through to the rentention people. They promised me a free month in may as they had new packages coming at the end of may which i was promised would be competitive. They Still took there £17.99 out of my account so i rang them today.I found that they have a new package which is also £17.99 per month includes a live box and 8meg and 2 g down load....and live box...so what about me paying the same for less? were they going to tell me about this no! and if you sign up on line you will be charged a £20 upgrade fee. If you ring customer service and moan a bit they will waive the fee. Personally I am sick of them and will be moving. They say they have forwarded the free month now but could do nothing more to convince me they had any customer service, they did nothing to try to retain me and I don't trust them at all. ORANGE  Still a rip of so i am changing to a .....Good deal

If your a Wannadoo/Orange user and wish to remain so at least get your MONEY WORTH and demand a livebox/wireless router to which your entitled to if not i recomend change to a better/cheaper provider. They seemed full of empty promises!!! Ring them up and old your ground get your MAC code...

PS i posted this on another thread but later found this one to have my gripe(newbie) and thanks for The link to gripe

  • I have been a customer of wanadoo for about 5 years, since it was freeserve. A few months ago, I "upgraded" to their £17.99 package (I was paying £27.99 for a slower service), they informed me that there was a fault on the line and it would take around 6 weeks to fix. As I work from home this was unacceptable and I told them to cancel my account. They then agreed to give me a free months broadband, when it was fixed, and not to bill me for the time offline. I still wanted to cancel, because I could not have no internet accesss t all, they then offered to give me free dial up whilst the fault was fixed. They gave me a number to dial up and went through all steps with me over the phone, I asked them to confirm that I would not be charged by BT for this dial up and they said that I would not. My partner also phoned a couple of days later and asked the same thing and got the same reply.

They did give me the free month that they promised, but I then received a bill from BT for £180. When I contacted them they said that I would not be entitled to have this money refunded as I had been dailing the wrong number, ie, not the free number.

I have spent around 3 hours on the phone to them (at premium rate) and sent numerous letters, but I've had no luck.

On one occasion (2nd May 2006) that I was on the telephone to "Paula", an employee of Wanadoo, I overheard one of her colleagues laughing and saying to Paula that she was putting a "Mr Diamond" on hold for ages because he was being awkward by asking to speak to a supervisor, then the same colleague asked Paula if I was still on hold at which point Paula did put me on hold, when there was no apparent reason to do so, other than to stop me overhearing her colleague’s comments, then 5 or so seconds later, when I was taken off hold, I overheard the same colleague swearing.

I don't know if I have any rights to claim this money back?

Jan, I think it might be worth a visit to your local Citizens Advice Bureau for some free legal advice about this. Do you have any of Wanadoo's promises in writing, or was it all done over the phone? Do you have dates & times of calls etc.

My elderly father is a keen internet user, he was overcharged by Wanadoo but he put all his complaints to them in writing. He threatened to take them to the small claims court to get his money back, he got as far as submitting the forms for the court case but then Wanadoo paid up because they didn't want to go to court.

You might also be able to get some advice on the OrangeProblems forum I mentioned above in post no 3. Let us know how you get on.
