    For his daughter?

That's exactly what I was thinking

maybe the clothes you've given him are really nice and they fit his daughter really well - after all, they're free clothes, six bags is quite a lot and maybe he's just a little greedy for more.
    little girls have dads too.

i would report him if he still hassles you after you tell him to leave you alone.

Or I guess he could be selling them (car boot or ebay).

Why not donate them to your local charity shop next time?:)

I do agree that if he continues to hassle you he should be reported for that but I don't think people should jump to conclusions about why he wanted the clothes as that could be quite innocent.

What did you do in the end?

:embarasse So sorry, I forgot to come back.

I sent the man a polite email saying that all my daughters clothes are in use right now, and the next batch of outgrowns will be offered on Freecycle again, to give everyone a fair chance. I said could he please stop sending emails, as I will not answer them.

I then got a nasty email from him saying that his children will go cold and unclothed because of my "un-christian nature", he has 9 children and no job etc.

I sent this message, plus all the others to the moderator, who did something, as he's not been back on freecycle since (unless he's under another email)

I have however had other emails from him since, basically saying how nasty I am for not giving him more clothes etc, so I have changed my email address (should have thought sooner to add him to a "blocked" list)

I now have an entirely seperate email address for freecycle, and I only give my address to folk who also appear to give a lot away. Everyone else, I agree to meet at Asda or something.

It's sad that one nasty sort has spoiled such a nice site.

Freecycle is a great idea in principle, but the human nature of some people spoil it. I'm appalled to read you've been bullied by someone and, sad to say it's not the first time I've heard of it. I've also found instances where moderators 'cherry pick' stuff before offering it to the mailing list.

Back at Christmas we wanted to test out an automated telephone system that wastes the time of cold callers and records their responses. We also wanted to look at a couple of complaints with a Freecycle scheme in mid hampshire. So, rather mean spiritedly to kill two birds with one stone we offered a 42 inch Sony Plasma TV (fully working) to the list. We had many calls (obviously) begging for this TV. All the sob stories you can imagine. Many before the add even went live on a list (cherry picking in effect). However, we got one guy so upset he was making threats to kill. If anyone wants to hear it, it's online (http://www.elblowfly.org.uk/drwe/) last entry on the page.

Practical advice which is probably covered elsewhere
    1. use an online web service like Yahoo / GMX / googlemail.
    2. Try and post *via* a privacy service like 'tor' or http://www.hidemyass.com/ (to keep you connecting IP out of the headers).
    3. Consider using a throwaway free sim in an old mobile *or* an internet software phone and grab a free local number (for incoming calls) from https://www.sipgate.co.uk which can be discarded if you get this kind of issue.
