Now a fully converted yoghurt-maker, I find I often have left over whey after straining yoghurt- I read somewhere you can use this to make scones or pancakes... how would I use it in them? Can I use it as a milk substitute in this and other recipes (such as fruit cobbler)? I have no idea what it would turn out like! Thanks :j0

By whey I mean the liquid that I have strained off the yoghurt I made yesterday. Has anyone used this in HM bread. I was wondering about using it in place of putting milk powder in the bread. Some of the 'curd' bit of the yoghurt slips through into the whey.
Sorry, I seem to be asking more than my fair share of questions, but I'm determined not to throw stuff away that can be used for something.
Have started using powdered milk in most cooking, eg. sauce etc. even in my porridge (not ON though LOL!) I'd rather load up and store powdered milk than UHT. think it's a bit cheaper too (99p for a '5pts' style)[SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. I use it in breadmaking. Use it as part of the water in the recipe. It's also good in scones and soda bread;)
You don't need milk in bread btw.0 -
Hi there,
Can anyone offer me any recipes which might use a couple of pints of whey?
