On Christmas Eve? I doubt their open tomorrow and plus i am due to go out with my family shopping so again......it's just depressing and i am trying to make everythin alright for everyone. Do you know what it is. It's the idea that i could sign off and have no security but i would make it work.Like 20 minutes ago i got the offer for a good business oppertunity but i won't have enough time to digest it all over the Christmas period and then i have this thing on Tuesday. I suppose what is bothering me is what my family will think. Even now when i talk about going self employed there is never anything nice to say to me and i am sure part of that is incase i lose all my savings.
If my appointment for this thing wasn't until after the New Year i would be fine but its the fact that i have less than a week to decide what i am gonna do.I'd be happy to just recieve my next payment on Wednesday ( it is being processed today but wont be in my account until Wednesday ) and then just sign off. I would sleep better at night and i would be a little happier but would i be able to live with the comments and constant reminder that i wont be getting any money? So all that does is make me feel like sh*t again and it's just a constant cycle. I'm quite a spiritual person and i believe we are here to live life the way we choose and i want to make my own way and earn my way. I don't want to feel intimadated by the job centre or staff member to do something i don't want and the reality is i don't need to do it. I just don't know what's for the best.0 -
I would be specific about your ideas as far as you can and if you do not get any help from the adviser then I would ask to speak to (or make an appointment with their manager) as self employment is certainly meant to be an option that should be open to you.
Under standard new deal there was a 6 month test trading period that would have been perfect for you, and I can't figure that would have been dropped as it means a chance to see if your plans can work.Nothing to see here :beer:0 -
FYI it doesn't take time to go self employed if you've got an idea what you want to do. All you've got to do is pick up the phone and ring the HMRC registration line and thats it, you're self employed.
Setting up the company, getting premises, stationary etc is something you do as part of your "business" otherwise you can't claim for it against tax if you do it all before starting self employment. By all means crunch the numbers first and do the research before starting but once you've done that, it takes all of a 10 minute phone call.
BTW, you're not alone in your dislike of having to deal with jobcentres. I think any intelligent person thinks its all an utter waste of time and farcical beyond belief. If you're not looking for unskilled work, and have the intelligence to do your own CV and jobhunting they basically can't help you.0 -
I tried to open up a little bit earlier and explain that i am upset by it all and my ideas for just signing off and trying to earn my money elsewhere. I was then told that i couldn't just sign off, i need to sign on for my pension stamps or something. I didn't know about that or know much about it. I just feel like crying.0

In answer to your later question, you can sign off, but you will lose your NI stamps.
I'm more concerned with the above copy from your OP - if you want to be self-employed then you really do have to be more outgoing to achieve contracts (above suggests you are an introvert which is a harder situation for being successful in self-employment).0
