Too many rads for my boiler ?
Comments
-
It's working ... it's working. Right, i started bleeding the conservatory radiator - it's one of those with a hold in the cap and shoots out to the side (i've been able to prop a jug under it and leave it flowing out). The radiator is getting warmer (ie. luke warm).
I've been under the floorboards and the pipe is now warm to hot (more hot than warm if i'm honest).
I've taken about 2-3 pints out ... when do i stop ? When the rad comes up to temp or when the pipe is hot ?0 -
Did you turn off your hot water while leaving one rad on?
The pump should of forced the air lock thou. What i would suggest is fixing the pipe to the Joice, to try and make sure it wont happen again0 -
The boiler is on (right now) whilst i'm bleeding ... this ok ?0
-
Well ... it's getting warmer (only part of the rad, but still - a step in the right direction). The water coming out has gone from clear, to yellow to yellowy-brown.
I'm going to have to stop in a sec - got to go visiting folk for a few hours. I'm leaving the heating on with the one rad open - rest off, see whether i have a surprise when i get home.
Can't fault all the advice on here .... it's truly amazing.0 -
The key is once its working to keep it working and not just now but when it fires up again under normal circumstances! I know you are out now for a few hours but when you get back just keep at it. Theres no point in getting the flow nice and hot if there is still an obstruction to circulation in the return.PrivateRyan wrote: »It's working ... it's working. Thanks - is that due to the 2008 changes or has it always been like that? I was under the impression that a conservatory did not count as an extension for calculating %age increase in area when considering PP for a future extension.planning_officer wrote: »A conservatory is an extension. Under Class A of the GPDO (re. permitted development rights), you can extend a house, subject to complying with various criteria - it makes no difference if the extension is made of brick or glass - it's still an extension. Class A makes no distinction between brick built extensions or conservatories. Putting a radiator into a conservatory does not suddenly change the status of the extension in terms of permitted development.
Still you never stop learning huh?

Have to say Keystone - Top Advise !!!
Private Ryan - get that plastic pipe clipped to a joist so that it don't happen again.
(make sure its level so that the water can flow along to the rad and not cause it again)
Nuff said and leaving this to Keystone to continue....Damned if you do.....Damned if you don't !?!0 -
Still something strange going off. The conservatory rad (the other two seem ok now) was still only getting luke warm after bleeding - despite the leg being quite hot. I've used the LSV on some of the other rads (that were v. hot) and the conservatory rad has now totally died again (leg is less warm/hot).
I've just opened all the LSVs on all the rads and will check in the morning which are the first to come up to temp. I assume i'll need this if i am ever to balance the system?
Regarding these comments about the plastic piping - they are not bending from best i can tell, they are straight even though they are hot. They are wrapped in a thick foam sheeth and i think are resting on something.0 -
No worries - yes, it's always been like that, even b4 the 2008 changes to PD. For the purposes of calculating permitted development allowances, all extensions are assessed under the same Class - whether they're brick, glass, timber, etc. Thanks - is that due to the 2008 changes or has it always been like that? I was under the impression that a conservatory did not count as an extension for calculating %age increase in area when considering PP for a future extension.

So you are starting to get some circulation then. Need to get both the flow AND return working.PrivateRyan wrote: »Still something strange going off. Yes you will need to know that. Oh and the whole thing being out of whack now (from a balance perspective) isn't helping currently either.I've just opened all the LSVs on all the rads and will check in the morning which are the first to come up to temp. Sorry I was being a tad cynical about the way plastic pipe is just chucked in sometimes. Its still a consideration if you can't see the whole run.Regarding these comments about the plastic piping - they are not bending from best i can tell, they are straight even though they are hot.
