asda sucks

On the 3rd of December i ordered my christmas shopping from asda online to be delivered 23rd December, it arrived on time, the delivery guys were lovely and they even rang to say they may be late due to the weather but when we checked over £30 worth of stuff was out stock including our christmas turkey! How can this be when i ordered it 3 weeks ago. I usually get my christmas shopping from tesco and i have never had a problem but i couldn't get a delivery slot for the 23rd so i thought i would give asda a try, what a big mistake! Does anyone know who to complain to? and is it even worth it because when i rang the store in ashton under lyne the manager was rude and just dismissed my issues.

  • I would be soo cross! Thinking it had all been taken care of. I considered doing an online shop but didnt for this reason.
I would contact there HO and advise on the response you got from the store. Good luck in getting it sorted and dont envy you having to go out now and panic buy!

I don't know if you are aware but your shopping will have been picked this morning. The picking in my store has been starting at 3am when the majority of the shelves have been restocked.
It would make no difference if you placed the order 3 weeks ago or 3 days ago because it all depends what is on the shelves on the morning your delivery is due.
Didn't you get any substitutes instead?

I read that lots of orders with the big supermarkets had been totally cancelled because of traffic problems. It would have been better in a way, because you would know where you stood before now.

If its any consolation many Asdas are open 24-hrs today, it would have been constructive for the store manager to tell you when they were expecting their next delivery. I remember the Asda opposite the Trafford Ctre from my brief spell in Manchester, so handy but bound to be congested today.

Good luck and I hope you don't go hungry on Friday.

I was in the same boat.... delivery 40mins late..... missing products, silly substitues.... ordered gluten free food and they sent normal stuff....... smashed products including cream..... no large chicken ....... ended up going to asda and got all the missing products and silly substitutes really easily..... just don't think the picker could be bothered!

If they're anything like Tesco they probably substituted a packet of frozen peas for the turkey.

I think you were lucky to get anything my order from Tesco was completely cancelled.I know how frustrating it is to have such a delivery though last year with Tesco was like that I am not going to bother again glad you got all your stuff anyway and a Happy Xmas!

  • sorry to hear you have had such problems - mine came (asda) on 23rd slot booked 6-8pm arrived at 6.20pm it was raining the man brought everything into lounge said no good everyone getting wet! ticked the substitute box but was only couple ie different flavour crisps - out of over 135 items only 6 not in stock nothing major though - we are in Leicester and have had no bad weather so maybe that has helped

hope you manage to get a turkey

OP - hope you get yourself sorted - can't imagine going from fully prepared to 1 day to go and still lots to get.

I only use online now for stuff that is bulky or doesn't matter. tried them all Mr T, A, S. All useful but unreliable

very sad, but once I changed from ordering 2 weeks shopping at a time to doing it every few days it never mattered so much
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine
