Salt Grit / Shovel
Does anyone know of where I can buy a snow shovel, those plastic ones? I've looked online at all the well known DIY stores but they don't have them... not been able to get to the shops themselves yet... because of the snow of course.
Looking for salt grit too... will they sell it too? Don't want a huge bag tho...
Getting tired of clearing my drive with my hand shovel!!

I got told yesterday that it was the wrong type of year for shovels! When I pointed out that the time of year was why I wnated one, the sales assistant agreed that although it was the right time of year, it was the wrong time for their suppliers!
I tried Argos, B&Q, Wilkos: all had sold out. Good luck!Halifax Credit Card: [STRIKE]£4915[/STRIKE] NEXT Directory: [STRIKE]£1980[/STRIKE]JD Williams: [STRIKE]£1984[/STRIKE] British Gas: [STRIKE]£394[/STRIKE] First Direct [STRIKE]£2985[/STRIKE]Debt-free for over 2 years now!!! :j0 -

I get grit in a old metal trash can. I go to the local gritting depot and ask for some.
They always refer me to the gaffer who ALWAYS argues that I can't have any. To which I reply, why not? this is for the highway, which you don't grit, I don't want to crash my car, and I don't want other cars crashing into my car. If he still refuses I say Why then do you provide yellow grit bins? To which he answers that's provided so people can grit the pavements and roads, to which I reply, well my nearest yellow bin is 1 mile away, and if I take some from there it will deprive that area of some of the grit, I figure it is easier/more socially responsible to come and get it directly from source than to take it from local points.
He always gives in and let me take a couple of bin fulls, because if he says "no" I say "Then I will take it from the nearest yellow bin as is my right"
Now in your case OP, you want it for your driveway so this post is only for people who want it for their public roads outside their houses.0 -
I got 2 small bags (2KG each) of Arthur Bowers Grit Sand from a local garden centre for £1.49 each the other day. Same stuff as what the council put down. :money:0

You sure about that. Grit Sand? The councils round here only use salt from Northern Ireland!0 -
Ironic really, but you can get one of those shovels in Argos, in the equestrian section, with a rake and hay nets.... Can't remember how much it costs, but if you know anyone 'horsey' then you both winFight Crime : Shoot Back.
