e2save Quidco cashback problem
So I only just noticed this reply to my queried transaction through e2save (via Quidco) that it was declined, due to 'competing cookies';

Hi,
Your transaction has been declined due to competing cookies.
A competing cookie is when another affiliate has been credited with the cashback. To reduce the risk of this happening in further transactions, please carry out the following steps:
(1) Make sure your computer & browser are configured properly
(2) Clear cookies & cache, disable pop-up, ad, & image-blockers.
(3) Log into Quidco and click on the merchant link on the Quidco site.
(4) Do not use voucher or other discount codes unless they came from the Quidco site.
(5) Do not use "refer a friend" programs or promotional links from other sites.
(6) Complete your purchase online, all in one session.
(7) Do not use a saved quote from a comparison site.
(8) Do not search other sites whilst completing a transaction on Quidco.
This transaction will not be able to be reinvestigated by the affiliate network because the commission as been rewarded to another publisher.

...But I ONLY use Quidco so how could this have happened? Anyone know if i stand a chance of getting the cashback? I've never had a problem before with cashback and have been using Quidco for over 3 years.

Hi Jollux,
It happens sometimes .....probably best to raise the issue on this thread :- http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2036555It's not just about the money0 -
Cookies stay on your computer (or the one used to carry out the transaction) from all sites which you visit. If you have used price comparison sites etc. (which don't give you cashback) they will have received the benefit and not passed it on (though they obviously don't ell people that. Before I order I always delete my cookies (though have been known to get paid twice by twio different cashback sites on occasion!). I used to have a direct contact at E2Save abiut three years back and once or twice they sorted non-tracking problems out. Might be worth contacting them to see if you can find out where the cashback went - though they are completely different nowadays so I wouldn;t hold out much hope!0

I have been using Topcashback for 18 months and been very pleased with their service, getting back nearly £300 to date. For some stupid reason I decided to purchase travel insurance through Quidco because it gave me 17% back as against 14% with Topcashback. I later discovered that there is a £5 membership fee at Quidco so I lost out on my purchase.
What annoyed me was the fact that this £5 fee information is hidden in the depths of the help pages not on the home page. I questioned the support team at Quidco, but all they could say was I should have read the help page before I signed up. Why does someone read the 'help' unless they have a problem? Why not be 'upfront' and put this fact on the home page? No they obviously prefer to con people. My advice is use Topcashback where there isn't a membership fee.0 -
The £5 fee has been established on there for years. Despite various problems with Quidco, I have lost very little (having earnt several times more than £300) BUT lost HUNDREDS with Topcashback through a) things not tracking, b) things going to confirmed then being declined for no reason and c) Topcashback doing virtually NOTHING most of the time to retrieve my money (I have lost nearly as much on there as your £300 gain!). My advice is to do the opposite and stick with Quidco.0

Yes, u should clean your cookies before ordering otherwise it may not track correctly. Visiting the website either directly or via another site may well put on a cookie before quidco and as such quidco are not issued the cashback for the sale.
You could ask who it went to, but to be honest, it is not going to help as the retailer will have paid out already and their say is final. Cashback is not guaranteed.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
