    Sounds like it needs a new thermostatic cartridge or there's carp in the filters/strainers.

    Make and model would be a good starting point!

    To save me asking later once you have provided the make and model number please describe EXACTLY how is it piped please - hot from where, cold from where, via a pump or what? And how long has it been installed. Thanks.

    OK. Is it:

    1. A mains fed unvented cylinder with no Cold Water Storage in the roof or;

    2 A conventional HW cylinder with CWST in the roof.

    If its A then eveything is at mains pressure and I suspect the thermo cartridge and BTW you should not have a pump anywhere near the shower feeds.

    If its B then the cold supply should be taken from new connection on the CWST (ie separate from all others) so that both hot and cold are at the same pressure which they are not currently and in any event you are NOT allowed to pump mains iaw Water Regs.

    If it is B how is the hot draw off for the shower from the HW cylinder arranged? It should be separate from all other taps by means of a separate draw off point from the side of the cylinder or a special flange in the top. Is it piped that way. If its teed off the vent pipe please describe the layout as its possible the pump is drawing air in. Could you take a pic and upload it?

    Cheers

    Assing it's worked ok for five yes no prob should we not assume it's a clogged cartridge should you be able to release the cartridge by pulling off the knob/s at either end

    I try not to assume anything but if you're happy go for it. It'll look something like this:

    Once released should you replace or use a descaler to clean?

    A new bar probably costs less than the cartridge.

    You could try using a descaler but it depends on what type of cartridge it is and for that you need to know make and model.

    You could be right but it would be pretty useless to you if it didn't have the same pipe centres as the existing one.
