Whats the law regarding returning PAYG Phones?
I bought a T-mobile PAYG phone from Tesco in store 4 days ago for my son. He opened the box but did not connect the Sim.
He did not like it and I went to return it to Tesco in store and they said as the box was opened and the seal was broken they cannot accept any returns.
Is this correct and in the future does this only apply to Mobile Phones?

You don't have a legal right to return goods to any store, unless they are faulty, mis-sold or unfit for purpose.
You should really check return policies before purchasing anything, especially if it's a gift.
What do you expect Tesco to do with an opened product? Would you buy it from them?0 -
Unless the item is faulty, a retailer does not have to accept a return. Tesco's stance on open mobile phones is common amongst most retailers.
How did he know he did not like it if he hadn't inserted the SIM?Gone ... or have I?0 -

Would be different if you ordered it online, but you don't have a right to return goods merely because you have changed your mind. Stores that accept returns for any reasons such as M&S do so as a goodwill gesture. Technically goods have to be faulty or not as described to entitle you to reject them.0
