I reserved them from the website and collected them from the Castlepoint store. As it is i may have to use the hideous ones as it's going to be epic trying to get 2 more

Altimately, ask yourself "Okay, I hate them, but will the little girls I bought them for feel the same?"

All pink, sparkles and and tassels - that can be a little girls dream come true - and isn't chav at all at that age.

This is true, am still annoyed with argos though. As it would have been all 3 DD's bikes would have looked similar minimizing tantrum risk and as DD (7) is the height of a 9 yr old bikes with a 20in wheel dont come with tassels!

I am just going to give them the ones they sent, purely because this close to christmas I've got no chance of getting any more this side of new years :(

I think you can buy tassels for bikes in Toy R Us, I am sure I have seen such things like those in the past.

When I bought the Islabike 20" for early December birthday, one reasion was to get away from all the pink and tassles.

Then the MIL buys a barbie seat cover...... She wasn't best pleased when I told her there was no way that it was going on the bike... :)

I'm hoping I'll get £150 for in two years time otherwise it was very very expensive....

Just to add she does cycle to school everyday and will therefore get good value from it.

Have been thinking about what SallyForth said and i have to say even though they are not to my specific taste i expect DD's will love them anyway.

I have learnt my lesson and in future collections will demand things be unpacked in the shop, i have done before with pushchairs when they couldn't tell me enough about it :rotfl:

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your all brilliant advice :D

There is the 30 day returns guarantee anyway. So should not be a problem.
Yep I agree with this, just take it back and ask for a refund under the 30 day guarantee - there will be no problem as this item is not excluded from the guarantee.
  • How did you pay for them? If you paid by vouchers that's what you will get back.

By the way, I remember seeing cheap Argos build-it-yourself bikes (other retailers also sell these bikes) on Watchdog or a similar program, they were claimed to be very poor quality bikes with some safety issues and hard to put together properly.

There was indeed something on this, it wasnt so much the issue of bike quality but a bikes general complexity to set up (correctly).

Ie if yoy have never attempted to open a computer case, you dont build your own rig....

If your not a mechanic, you dont MOT your own car .

Bikes are extremely hard to get just right and you need the correct tools. If you buy any of these bikes they will break because the buyers are incapable of building them.

Besides that, i wouldn't touch a bike sub £150 for any age range, cheap Malaysian tat.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

Yes hard to put together if your a blind man with 1 arm and wooden leg.

And unsafe? what a load of tosh, if your not capable of putting it together then its going to be unsafe, but to say the bikes are materially unsafe is just untrue.

Give a maniac a butter knife and its unsafe, but give the same butter knife to a completely sane person and its perfectly safe

I have seen a bike, a good few years ago. Less than 6 months old. Front fork had collapsed sideways and torn at the point of crumpling. Now it was not exactly clear cut, in that the young lady riding it ended up in hospital and remembered nothing and could have been hit by a vehicle. But having said that, I did feel that the fork was completely inadequate and should not have torn.

If the manufacture is not up to it, no amount of correct assembly will put it right.
