Cancelling Orange Contract

Hi!
I'm a first time poster, long time reader!
I have a friend who has had a contract with Orange for 16 years(!). When she found out the Iphone was coming to orange she was more than happy to stay with them. However, they made her sign up to a 24 month contract recently, advising her that when the iphone was available, she would be able to have one on this contract. Now they won't let her have an iphone, nor will they let her cancel the contract.
Is there anything she can do?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Jenny

She can pay to get out of the contract.
Alternatively if she has a recording of them saying that she can upgrade to the IPhone she can take them to court for breach of contract.
In short mobile phone retailers tend to not tell the truth about things and you need to get things they say in writing.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Operators are known to lie or fail to state the full terms, the arrange was likely she could upgrade once her minimum 24 months was up. They won't have said it but have implied it, i can only suggest you ask Orange to review or send you the recording of the sale, but not all calls are recorded.
If you don't have any proof, im afraid she will have to sit out the 24 month contract until it is finished, or pay alot of money to buy it out early (which is to honest is pointless) Has she considering upgrading her tariff and then buying an IPhone on PAYG and using the contract sim in the phone?Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
