Vodafone "Cover Me" insurance

Hi

I'm thinking about buying a contract phone from vodafone. I'm not sure whether to buy their insurance! It's £6.99 per month.

I've always had pay as you go phones before so i'm not sure what would happen in the event of losing/breaking/theft etc without the cover.

can anyone help?

I had a vodafone contract a few years ago and I lost my phone with a month left on the contract; they refused to replace my Nokia N80 with the N95 and could not offer another Symbian phone with Wifi as I requested (to match the discontinued N80).

They had the cheek to offer a selection of the sub-standard phones which were available "free" on their site but I'd have to pay an excess for the privilege. When I refused, their counter-offer was simply an upgrade but with a hefty price increase and one-off payment because I was a fairly light user.

To top it off, when I declined both offers they took insurance payments for a further two months after reporting the 'phone lost as it was "too late" to cancel the coming month and they required a months notice to cancel the next one.

Decide for yourself but I'd never deal with vodafone again, nor would I buy insurance for a phone.
