Direct debit

I have my O2 phone contract set up on direct debit. When the bill comes through on the 4th, it gets taken out on the 18th. What I was wondering is say the bill is £100, and i only had £50 in the bank, would they take £50, and would the other £50 be added onto next months bill. Also, would i get a bank charge ?

umm....how do O2 know what you have in your account?

they'll take the £100, or at least they'll request it, then you'll be charged by either your bank or O2 or both for a failed payment, maybe cut down your phone usage to below £50
  • They will apply to take £100, that's why they give you something like 14 days notice of any change in amount from billing date to the collection date. THe bank may honour the payment and charge you interest or they may reject it owing to insufficient funds and then charge you and then O2 will charge you possibly for unpaid DD
