Looking for a new phone
I am looking for a new phone, something equivilant spec to the iphone, or samsung omnia.
It needs to have proper internet browser.(watch vids, facebook etc)
GPS, with SatNav.
Decent camera.
No more than £30 a month.
Touchscreen preffered.
I've probably missed stuff, so i'll add it when i remember
Oh, and i do not want a blackberry!

Sony Ericsson Satio any good for you? Sony's answer to the iphone. Was recalled originally, but if it was on Orange and Vodafone, they were okay, as they run their own software on the phone.0
-
They run their own software? Not quite, they hack up the original software to remove stuff and put stuff in, usually removing useful things and adding useless ones...
Palm Pre, exclusive to O2 at the moment, ticks all the boxes above. Same tariffs as the iPhone. I've got one and would highly recommend it. Ease of use and multitasking, and a real keyboard. Doesn't have 10,000 apps quite yet and the OS is still young, so not crammed with features/customisations, but is being updated frequently and getting better all the time...0 -
Not too sure about the Satio, same with the palm pre. The Iphone is growing on me, but i'm not sure, any reviews?
Thanks0 -
IPhone is great, but lacking in the camera department, the Satio wins hands down in that area. IPhone i believe is also more expensive to have on contract and to insure, power of the IPhone isn't the hardware but the apps people have written for it.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
iPhone is the best for browsing, images etc - I've got a sammy i8910HD though and the browsing is *close* to being as good once you install opera mobile - miss the multitouch still, but make up for it with a slightly easier keyboard.
Camera is good on the i8910 (especially the video, obv) but I've had better (my old SEk850i took better stills).
I've not debranded it yet, so am still struggling with horrid orange firmware, but it's still better than the bulk of phones I've used.0 -
Whats multitouch?
I have the K850i ATM, and the camera is good, but i could sacrifice that, for a good internet browser, and SAT NAV!0 -
Anyone?:rolleyes:0

Multitouch is a feature that allows you to use the touchscreen more effectively.
A good example is on the iPhone; in the browser, if you place two fingers on the screen and draw them apart, it zooms out of the page. Conversely, push your fingers together and it zooms in.
There are many more multitouch functions, maybe not all as intuitive as the example I gave but they are usually more accurate and reliable than single touch gestures.0 -
Oh right, so that is present on the iphone?
Any reviews on the iphones?0 -
Yes, browsing google maps on the iPhone is quite cool. Using two fingers, you can zoom or rotate the map. Other applications have similar multitouch features.
I'm sure you could find a gazillion iPhone reviews if you do a google search.0
