Hey all,
I bought an item from Argos on 27/11/09, at £195.99 and now its been reduced in the Christmas sale starting on Christmas day at £97.99. This is 28 days later. The product was only delivered on 15/12/09. Where do I stand on this? Do I have a right to the difference back?
Thanks in Advance

You have no right to the difference, it's up to Argos' goodwill. But I suspect that after a month, they won't do anything.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
You could have a go at returning the item as unwanted then buying a new one in the sale, if you can...I doubt Argos will be interested in refunding the difference otherwise - the whole point of a sale is that you get a certain price for buying at a certain time - you didn't buy at that time, so you shouldn't really be entitled to the price. Xmas sales are a great example - you can buy ahead of xmas for a present - and pay X, or you can buy after xmas, not in time to give as a present, and pay Y. It's up to you whether having the item at a certain time is worth the extra money...0

Why so many of these questions...
When you bought the item you formed a contract with Argos and agreed to pay £195.99. You were clearly happy with the price or you wouldn't have paid it. Yes it's annoying when prices drop but prices do change and retailers have sales.
If it had gone up to £293.99 and Argos had phoned to ask you for an extra £98 you would tell them to politely go away....it's no different.
You might be able to get away with it - if it is unopened and Argos have an extended returns period for unwanted Christmas presents that was in force when you bought the item. If it is opened you have no chance.Dogs have owners...my cat has slaves...0 -

Please answer.0 -
Now normally I give people stick for these silly questions but the OP here has 7 days from the day the item was delivered to return it under distance selling regs - I'll let them work the rest out.0

well unless he has special contacts in DHL etc it will be 8 days as of tomorrow and thus not possible!Always ask ACAS0

he has 7 working days so actually they're still in timethen you need to know about the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000.
The key features of the regulations are:- you must give consumers clear information including details of the goods or services offered, delivery arrangements and payment, the supplier's details and the consumer's cancellation right before they buy (known as prior information)
- you must also provide this information in writing
- the consumer has a cooling-off period of seven working days.
Yes Your Dukeiness0 -
my apologies I thought it was 7 days....Always ask ACAS0

So, not such a daft question after all.0
