If I had been interrogated at the other tropical fish shop near my house before I purchased neon tetras (and they all died within 48 hours) I'd have known my pH was too high.
I'm a beginner, so welcome all offers of advice/help. Especially if it stops me from harming the pets through ignorance.
They'd only know this if you'd taken a sample of your water with you which I suspect is unlikely. Filling out a form won't identify that problem.
I'm not having a go at the sales assistants as I've worked in retail in the past and I know all about being made to do pointless tasks. Perhaps the bosses could allow a little bit of discretion so if the customer is a beginner they can go through the questionnaire and offer advice but if the customer is an experienced aquarist who has bought fish there in the past then they could accept that they know what they're doing? The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us

The Pets at Home web page is pretty good too.
If you take advantage of their one-day-only specials on various pet foods, bulk buy to get free delivery and other discounts and go in via Quidco, you can get upto 60% discount on their shop prices.0 -

Don't go getting confused with the US's petco where an incident did happen. While our local pet store has better ethics I feel pets at home have improved since the old days and ours even has an animal rehoming bit.0 -
Yes, the drowned rabbit thing was a woman at a Petland store in Ohio, US. She put the pics on Facebook. Charged and got probation. To be fair to the Petland company, they immediately shut the store (it was a franchise).
I think if PAH were doing this, it would be all over the web. At least at PAH you don't see the really tiny hutches for sale that you get in other pet stores.0 -
Yeah, I can't see any relation between the two companies, and even if there was, one rogue employee/store shouldn't set the tone for the whole company.Male.

i like PAH too ... i always take my dogs along with me if they need new collars or anything ( one at a time, both of them would end up in a riot lol) last time i went Willow ( my cocker) knocked a cremic feeding bowl off a low shelf but i didn't have to pay for the damage even though i offered, the girl just got on the floor and have a cuddle and a face wash lol ( not off me off Willow lol )
Charlie ( my staffie) likes to go and look longingly at the rabbits lolmustn't grumble :cool:0 -
I wouldn't say they are animal friendly.
Hamsters, rats etc all come from rodent farms and if they have a problem ie a rat with a head tilt the managers just distroy them or return the sick animal to the ware house. Yes I have first hand experience of this happening
Rat that was handed in for re homing, was in danger of being put down by manager. Because he was a biter and had not found a home after 6 wks. I was asked by a staff member if I could help find it a home. Which I did but for the rats sake.
All is not what it seams........
People who take a sick animal back to exchange it, I don't understand. Would they do the same if they had a sick baby???BSC No: 186 There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Unless someone's nicked the candle !
