PRAISE -Pets at home.

I bought my sons two Russian dwarf hamsters and a Mickey Max cage from Pets at Home, Bradford in September. The other day, I noticed two of the small bars on the door hatch at the top had come loose. I called PAH and the CS advisor told me to bring it down and they would replace it. I went down just as the store was opening up for the day and the replacement cage was waiting on the counter for me.

Excellent service Pets at Home Bradford :D

I love the tropical fish manager at the Southend branch. He's ever so helpful.

I love Pets At Home although we've had to stop going in because every time we do we come out with another animal :D

We have had a few hamsters from there over the last couple of years and a couple were in the adoption cage. The girl who served us clearly loves her job and the animals that come with it. She always takes the hamster out of the cage gives it a little kiss and tells it that everything will be ok now because the 'nice people' are going to look after it now. Then every time we go back in for something she always makes a point of coming up to us to ask how the hamsters are.

It's nice to know that although it's a pet shop the animals are well cared for whilst they're in there.

    I like Pets at home.

Especially the fact you can murder a goldfish and get it replaced for free ;)
  • I don't know what it is about them, but Pets at Home seem to me like a company that we will out of the blue see one day on the news saying that they've gone bust.

What annoys me about buying tropical fish from Pets At Home is that questionnaire that you have go through every single time. I'm sure it gets longer everytime I go there. I've had a tropical tank for about ten years now so I suspect I know more about what to do with a Neon Tetra than the seventeen year old shop assistant interogating me.
The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us

Surely you will know that it's not his intention to interogate you, but more along the lines of company policy that he has to follow or get fired.

If I had been interrogated at the other tropical fish shop near my house before I purchased neon tetras (and they all died within 48 hours) I'd have known my pH was too high.

I'm a beginner, so welcome all offers of advice/help. Especially if it stops me from harming the pets through ignorance.

I quite like PAH too. The staff are pretty helpful and the animals seem well cared for - certainly better than the average pet shop or garden centre. The fish tanks always look clean too, which is more than I can say for our local fish selling garden centres.

I'm another fan of Pets at Home. We brought a guinea pig who developed an eye infection after 24 hours. Phoned Pets at Home who said we could get a replacement or take the piggie to our vet and claim the money back. We did the latter (we'd already fallen in love). When we took the receipt to get our money back DD had chosen some treats for her animals. The manager saw DD counting out her money and said she could have them as a thank you for looking after the guinea pig so well. I'd definitely go there again.

They seem to give an awful lot of goods away free / replacement at PAH?

How do they make any money?!
