RICS: Rents Will Rise Next Year

  • Yvette Cooper is already on record as saying they are going to reform it .

Yvette Cooper is going to be unemployed in 6 months.

(Here's a lesson for Hamish, providing some evidence to back up a claim)

I quote more links and sources than most posters on here.

And within the context of the thread, RICS surveyors produced a report, claiming rents will be rising due to the lowest number of rental properties coming to market in the history of their records.

I linked to the RICS news release.

You seem not to agree with them, so I suggest you take it up with RICS.

You posted it here, I will discuss it here.

I am not interested in speaking to them about it.

On Yvette Cooper I sincerely hope that is the case. Although she is easy on the eye I detest her politic-speak and nauseating trotting out of the party line like a loyal little apparatchik as well as her vile husband.

  • I wouldn't hold your breath. I am still waiting for links for some of his figures from a couple of weeks ago.

    Hamish does not do facts.

Hamish only does facts. I just can't be bothered doing your research for you, particularly when the facts in question have been posted and reposted, with links, on this site ad nauseum.

I'm not going to repost source material in every thread where we discuss commonly accepted facts and figures.

    Try google.

Right, so new proposed reform is paying for the existing "up to £15 a week" thingy.

The proposed new reform will restore the powers of rent officers to ignore the top 5 to 10% of rents. So the penthouse in london is a no no for housing benefit. 90 to 95% of data used for setting housing allowances will not affected?

And as the reform pays for the U turn so the nett effect is zero.
Therefore no reduction is housing allowances.

all of the 250,000 extra families that Hamish pulled out of his @rse, .

As far as I remember, it was from the July Nationwide housing market report. Try google....

So not quite an "inevitable reduction."

My dreams do tend to be on the positive side, I'm sorry about your nightmares, your missing porridge again?

We might well be bumping around at the bottom at the moment but things do tend to turn around at some point. If you can't see this you must be predicting the end of life as we know it, Armagedon, we're all doomed, doomed I say.

Not so much bumping around the bottom as treading water. We have been thrown a life ring in the form of QE & ZIRP but the ring has a hole in it and is losing air rapidly. A double dip is a real risk, so anyone thinking this is the bottom may be in for a shock.

As the latest "U" turn was to fund the scrapping of the proposed removal of the £15 benefit which in turn was going to yield a saving then that is not the case.

Also the government are currently "consulting" on other measures. I believe their intent is to cut this budget from the soundings they are making.

Spartacus, Thanks for clearing that up.

Hamish, It was all Mr Mannerings fault

Daddybear, I'm going to bed, to dream of double dips with crushed nuts and hundreds of thousands, whilst I float on lilo filled with QEZIRP.

Do you? Still waiting for evidence to support the fact that 70% of the poulation want/need HPI and where Mervin King said that interest rates will hardly rise for years to come.

Also maybe you can tell us where RICS say that rents WILL rise as I cant actually see where they say this.
