legally where do i stand with ISP

Where do I stand, what can I do (If anything) and what is your best advice.

After reading some old threads I took the plunged and joined fast4 yesterday….at the time my laptop was working fine.

I got email 2 set up attachments 0808setup41032.ins (< 0.01 MB), 0845setup107875.ins (< 0.01 MB from fast4net, Hotmail reported unsafe, so i pointed my browser at provided set up link, Norton reported Bloodhound virus and got system message system would shut down and restart. After restarting I continually got error msg : e.734 and error 691 repeated system shutdown msg.
I never actually did any surfing c/o fast4net, just spent time restarting and receiving error msg’s
I phoned fast4 this a.m. to ask for a refund, a refund was not allowed because I had used the service for 30 mins, I pointed out the above info to the telephonist and all she said was “you should have only got 1 attachment I will advise technical team, but it is not our policy to refund if the service has been used”, out of pure anger I advised them to cancel my account.
Due to dissatisfaction via phone I tried to enter web site to contact them by email or whatever means possible, however they have blocked me entering and my logg-in name/password not know!!!! They have obviously cancelled my account from today not 24hrs after subscribing, (expensive isp £6.99 for hrs).
I am Very dissatisfied with the service I have received(or not received as this case); I have obviously incurred additional costs due to laptop repair. I am not very happy and hate being ripped off!
My bank cannot stop payment as i did it on my debit card.
Companies like this give net purchasing a bad name and I will think twice before ever entering into a contract with any other company, you wont believe I only signed up with 18866 yesterday before I read a displeasing threads about payments. Damm its gonna be one of those years!!!!

if hotmail reported the mail as unsafe why did you open it?

    bloodhound is not a virus.
"Norton AntiVirus (NAV) has the ability to detect unknown viruses of various types using heuristic algorithms known as Bloodhound. This technology was developed by Symantec Security Response."

why do you have to pay for laptop repair?
can you not run anti virus to remove it.

  • Bad luck m8, whatever you do i know it's easier said than done, but dont loose your rag when you are annoyed, it really gets you no-where. Try to remain cool and calm but be firm and I'm sure you'll get what you rightly deserve.

well i would not use aol. full stop.
fast4 were ok when i used them. (now on broadband, but may use them again for broardband if current isp are no good)

fast4 may had not been responsible for virus?
if you had paid for it you could had kept for the month and not told them to cancel it.
  • Apologies for removing posts, but in this case i think the two parties in question could both have been a little more accomodating to each other.

At the risk of getting involved in something that need not have got into a row, ive taken some of the arguement posts out and hope that the thread now remains friendly.
