yes.. its already been suggested but i was going to say cook it at a friends house then you can just reheat on the day.. you can have do some pan cooked potatoes instead of roast, veg is all on the hob anyway... its a nuisane but you can still have a nice meal.. get that turkey out or it wont defrost in time!0

If you have the money (is a good long term investment as well!) buy a halogen oven for about £55.
I love mine and it cooks everything AND you can use it after.

when my mums broke she took it to the church...at the point where the preacher does the all "I'll let you all get home to your lunches..bet you can smell it already".....the waft of turkey was coming through lol
- use a friends oven for sure if you want to go ahead with a traditional spread, its worth the effort

Ahh!! That happened to me 2 years ago, except it was Christmas Eve! Luckily we were having beef, so I did that in the slow cooker and used saucepans to cook the veg (assuming your hob top still works).
There's no harm in re-jigging Christmas dinner and have it later in January when your oven is mended/new, as long as you can cope with having that huge bird in the freezer for that long!0 -
Thanks for all the tips.
We remembered we have a little portable oven we used to take camping years ago in the shed. I won't fit a turkey, but we can get by. We have soemone coming round today to see what can be done as we actually have a cooker in the garage that we bought second hand a couple of years ago and OH never got round to getting swappped.0 -
Fix the oven?
I'm guessing it's Electric?
Probably as simple as an element or other changeable component.0 -
Mine died on Xmas day last year! I had just finished cooking the turkey luckily and was just putting the tatties in when the electrics blew! I sympathise with you.
I agree with the previous posters, can you borrow a parent/neighbours oven? We had mash and boiled veg with ours which was still lovely.
Or, if you have guests, just change the location...you take the food and they supply the venue!
Have a great day, and chill!!! It will be a funny Christmas story by next year!!!0 -
Oh you poor darling.... but chill, dont worry and I to agree with the others any chance you can use a friend or neighbours oven?Well Behaved women seldom make history

SOrry if this sounds like i am stating the obvious - is there anyone who can cook your turkey for you - if there is - you could get it cooked the night before at a friends/relatives house. the rest could be managed on the hob which is still working.
