Oven broke last night...how am I going to cook a turkey dinner now?

My oven broke last night, but the hob part is working.
With 2 days before xmas eve and all this weather I'm being realistic that I won't be able to get it fixed or a new one this side of xmas
I have a 15lb turkey to defrost and need to decide whether to bother or not as turk will have to come out of the freezer today at some point.
Before I do that any suggestions?
Have a slow cooker.

Really sorry that your oven has broken. Why don't you joint the turkey into small enough pieces to put in your slow cooker, i.e. legs, wings, breast etc. I have never tried it but my aunt regularly roasts meat in her slow cooker with no liquid she lines the bottom with foil and puts the meat in, the moisture comes form the meat itself. I hope you manage to have a good christmas dispite your oven problemsFibro-Warrior0

You poor poor thing!...it's a terrible thing at xmas. The only thing i can think is can you buy some chicken breasts to pan fry or grill and have with your veg on xmas day? The pigs in blankets can be grilled also...is your grill working?
Have you a microwave?..if so you can microwave your xmas pudding.
If i think of anything else i'll post them0 -
We are having chicken breasts this year and I am cooking them in the slow cooker. Alternatively go with the joint the turkey suggestion and slow cooker it. You could cook the veg seperately if space is tight.
I bought a combi microwave after my cooker broke down 2 weeks before Christmas a year or so ago. Do you know anyone who would lend you one for the Christmas period?0 -
I cannot recommend this personally, but there is plenty of advice on how to barbecue a whole turkey if you have a google around.0

I would use the bbq if possible. Otherwise, have you got a remoska/halogen oven?
Invite yourself and family to another home? Or borrow an oven from neighbour to cook it on christmas eve?
How broken is it? some times it might only be a small part (maybe ask on the DIY board here?)0 -
Our fan oven went last week. My husband ordered the motor on next day delivery (extra 2.50) it came the next day and he fitted it himself. Ours is a belling, he just googled make and model , if you order one today you may get it tomorrow. Think ours came about 11.30 next morning with DHL0

Could you ask a neighbour if you can use theirs the night before? My OH's family have Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve. It's a nice tradition and makes Christmas day a lot more chilled.0
