V Box missing the end of programmes!!!!!

Options
Our V+ box occasionally misses the end of programmes its set to record. It doesnt do it all the time, but it seems to do it when its a programme I really want to watch :mad::mad:

Its happened a few times over the past few months, but there's no rhyme or reason to it.

Has anyone any ideas as to what is causing it - I was ready to chuck it out the window when it missed the end of Dinner Ladies tonight!
:hello:  please play nicely children !

saw a post on this just yesterday
seemingly you can go into settings and tweak the recording criteria, though it can affect clashes in recordings

Hello custardy and thanks for your advice! Hubby has already been in and tweaked it so it should start recording two mins before and for ten minutes after, so not sure what else we can do. Maybe it did clash with something else that we had programmed to record, but not sure, so will check with hubby when he comes in!

Yes but if youve set the box to record 2 programmes immeadiatly after, the "Padding" dosent work, it will start recording those programmes instead. this seems to be happening more lately, Especially HD programmes that start later than the SD version of the same programme.

It happens on Sky too. It's nothing to do with the boxes,it's something to do with the programme information that is transmitted with the programme encoding (bear with me,I'm going by something I learnt over 10 years ago & dont use much now) that tells the box when to start & stop recording.
It's more prone to happen when the recorded programme starts late or over-runs.
