i pay 36p for a 500ml carton in tescos
its a lot smoother / creamier / thicker than using chopped toms
like i say i tend to use halof and half as i like a bit of the chunky texture in there aswell0 -
You can get good value out of one packet/jar too.
I tend to take out what I need then divide the rest into small portions and freeze. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
An easy spanish chicken dish:
A few shallots - Chopped in half
4 chicken breast without skin
Green Pepper
Black Olives (optional)
A handful of herbs
Passata Sauce
Quickly fry chicken breast to give colour, then place into a casserole dish, place passata sauce over the top and a handful of herbs, cook on 180c for 25 mins, then pop chopped shallots, green pepper and black olives in and cook for a further 25 mins, or until chicken is cooked, and serve with plain rice and homemade crusty bread...delicious.0 -

Hi all,
I had to open a jar of Passata last night for a small tikka sauce, and the jar says to use within two days.
I haven't got pasta planned this week, so was going to just to make it into a sauce with garlic and mushrooms to freeze, but is there anything else I could do with it?
Thanks0 -
You could freeze the whole jar then defrost it for pasta next week.
Or, you could try this older thread - Passata - how to use.

I've added the question to the link (thanks PP) to keep all the answers together.
You could also use it as a pizza topping if you fancy.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Thanks GR!
Thanks PP - I didn't think of freezing the whole jar - DOH!
How would I make tomato soup with it? Preferably without adding cream?0 -
Or, which might be even handier, freeze the passata in ice cube trays - that way you can have as much or as little to add to a dish as you like, if you can't use it right away" Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams.. "~ November 8th 2008. Now totally DEBT FREE !~0
