To be debt free by 30 I need to start now! - Gingernutbizkit's 2010 diary

  • Update for MFiT 2.

I have just been calculating where I stand for this challenge. I have committed to pay off all my debt and mortgage in these three years. For the first stage I needed to pay off 8.33% by 12th March. I am VERY happy to report that.....

:j:j:jI HAVE ALREADY ACHIEVED THIS :j:j:j

I needed to have my debt total below £153,656 and is now £148,627 :D.
This is a tough challenge for us and we knew that we would have to get a really good headstart to make it happen. I need now to focus on getting my debt down to £139,691 by the second stage on 12th June.

    Hi all,

Busy morning cleaning and decluttering today. Busy but boring... starting to realise how much I hate being in the house onmy own all day. FINALLY have arranged a date for my NVQ assessor to come over (tomorrow) so hoping that that will give me something to aim for.... it's not that I haven't got anything to do (quite the opposite:o) just prefer to have people around me. Thing is, when Mrs Ging and the kids come home theyjust want to stay in the house and relax.... whereas I'm desperate to get out!

Anyway, here's the list so far.....

    Pay Off £50K from Debts
    Total to date: £5564.11
    Tasks this Week:
Organise finances on wednesday (pay day) * [STRIKE]Pay off homebase card[/STRIKE] * [STRIKE]Pay off barclaycard[/STRIKE] * Make NI payment * Total shopping receipts for grocery challenge * Virgin Card overpayment

    Lose 5 Stone
    Total to date: 0lbs
I attended Paul Mckennas seminar at the weekend and I'm really motivated at the moment. My goal for this week is to follow the 4 rules everyday this week and resist getting on the scales!
Monday: Could have been better but not too bad either. Need to slow my eating down more and focus on eating consciously. FOund it hard to know when I was full and therefore when to stop. Did manage to eat what I wanted though :D.
Tuesday: So far so good :D

    Thursday:
    Friday:

  • Hi all,

Just wanted to update at the end of day 2. Most of the cleaning was done today, just some bits in the kitchen to get focused on tomorrow. I've got a meeting in the morning and a friend coming over for lunch (soup already made and bread to go in overnight). Not sure that I will get much done but hope to be able to have some time to focus on finances as it's payday and want to make a good overpayment to virgin card.

Monday: :undecided Tuesday: :T Really good day. I ate much less and left something on every plate. Really hoping that I get hungry later though coz I have a creme egg in the fridge and I want to eat it guilt free :rotfl:. I did listen to the CD for the last couple of nights which I think is helping, although it does keep sending me to sleep!

    Hi all,

Had quite a busy day today, busy in a nice way. This morning I enrolled for my NVQ course -finally! Then made cakes and bread. The a friend came over for lunch and introduced me to his new chocolate lab puppy :D.

It's also been payday so I have sorted through some finances, made an OP of £1200 to virgin (hoping to get rid of the card asap) and can report the following.....

    * Since Oct 2008 we have paid £30,876.97 off our debts, that's 17% :T
    * On the MFiT2 challenge we are £6395.87 ahead having paid off 12% (8.3% required for the 12th March) :T
    * On the pay £50K in 2010 challenge we have paid £7114.11 so far, 14% :T

So all in all we are ahead of where we planned to be by the begining on Feb so our debt free date of 12/12/12 still seems achievable :j:j:j

Monday: :undecided Tuesday: :T Wednesday: :) Generally a good day, do feel like I have lost a little. Probably ate to much at lunch as I wasn't really focusing (talking too much :o). Went on WiiFit tonight.. first time in 264 days :o. However, only put on 2kgs in that time.... did have to suffer being patronised by it though .

Monday: :undecided Tuesday: :T Wednesday: :) Thursday: Gym this morning - 5 mins cycling (lv4), 5 mins rowing (rst 8), 5 mins crosstrainer (lv4), swimming (2 lgths). Ok, not exactly a lot but I haven't done any serious exercise for years and I'm seriously obese so a figure it's best to start slowly. I did however enrol for an aqua class next monday. Food wise so far so good. Been following all the rules properly.

Well done on getting back to the gym Ging :D I just rejoined one...local (only a ten minute drive) for £36 a month. When I worked out how much it cost me per time it didn't seem too money saving, but then I realised I'd done my calculations wrong and to gym and swim the same amount as I do now at my old gym would cost almost £80 a month!

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time

That's great CP. I opted to pay for a year in advance at £330 which is a real saving even if I only go twice a week :D.

Aqua this morning which was great, although I was the youngest woman by at least 20 years! Salsacise booked for thursday :D.
