My boiler is six years old, HOMESERVE have not spent a penny on it, just offered me £200.

That's because at the quoted prices it would cost in excess of £1000 to repair. This will be more than the current worth of the boiler and hence be declared BER. They aren't going to spend money up to the residual value of your boiler when they know that won't repair it. That's a waste of your time and theirs.
  • After being sent renewal notice from homeserve after the guarantee ran out I found out they do not insure LPG systems, since then I have had two more letters from the same company, after informing them, even there staff did not know they did not cover lpg,so I am keeping my money in my pocket about £160 per year and will get my friendly gas engineer to fix it if anything goes wrong. The last boiler lasted 20 yrs and was only fixed once. Saving about £2,000

It seems I am in the wrong business. My boiler cost £800 NEW. Now, HOMESERVE are quoting in excess of £1000 just for 3 parts. Maybe I should buy new boilers and sell the individual parts to HOMESERVE for an instant profit.
