Hi there,
My first post on here and hopefully will be my last!
I recently tried the glasses direct 7 day home trial for 4 pairs of frames...i recieved them on the 10th dec and returned to them on the 14th as all too big for my face.
I emailed them to let them know they have been returned, but about 30 mins ago i get an email saying they are shortly going to be charging my card for £151 as glasses have not shown up at their end.
I'm very upset about this as i do not have that sort of mney spare and feel i shouldn't be held to ransom for royal mails error....please anybody can you help and advise.
I can't ring them till tommorrow now and am very worried, can i stop them charging my card? how do i find them at royal mail...i feel like crying x

Did you send them back trackable / insured. You contracted to pay for them if not returned.0

so im guessing you sent £151 worth of goods through the post by an untrackable method?0

Actually glasses direct provide you with the postage paid label and encourage you to just pop them in the post. Personally i always ask for proof of posting just in case though.
Anyway, try not to worry too much they seem very nice and reasonable at that company (mine once arrived late because of the strikes) and it was probably an automated email. Just phone them tomorrow and see what they say.
Good luck0 -

a postage paid label would cover the op for £39 via POP
tracked delivery is for the senders benifit0 -
Can you cancel the card to avoid paying bank charges if you don't have the money? I take it was by debit card you entered? If its a DD then you can cancel it too.
This won't sort out the problem, but it's a short term solution if you don't have the money, don't want this to spiral you into debt!0 -
Thanks for your replies and helpful comments...i have just spoke to them and they said they have notes on my account to show i have rung and emailed them and they are now waiting until after christmas period as they are not getting much mail.
I should have got a reciept i suppose but as a previous poster said they encourage you to just pop back in the post with a returnable label...they really should provide a trackable system. So i will wait with everything crossedx

Are these "on approval".
I have received goods (greetings cards) "on approval" before.
I got a FREE proof of posting when returning some items.
They sent me a bill.
I did some legal research and told them the goods were sent under a "contract of bailement" and that they remained the property of the company and not me.
If they were lost it's THEIR responsibility and not mine (although I did have proof of posting to show I posted them).
I'm not sure if you situation is the same.
I would always recommened getting the free proof of posting.
But if they were sent "on approval" then they are the companies property and if they are lost then it's THEIR problem not yours.
If this is the case, then you don't need to insure them against loss, because they are the companies property and not yours, however the proof of posting would help a great deal if there was a dispute.0 -
these would be glasses the OP ordered to try out before buying
different scenario

Under the terms and conditions (under the linke above) it clearly saysThe frames will remain the property of Glasses Direct throughout the period of the Home Trial.
Therefore Glasses Driect are liable for whatever postal method they choose and the OP is not responsible provided they have taken reasonable precautions i.e. taken care of the glasses property to ensure they aren't damaged etc.
Looking at their terms and conditions they look like an honourable company and I would expect this to be sorted out.0 -

now how does the OP prove they returned them?0
