Please help me drive my new automatic tomorrow

The Overdrive should just switch the top gear on or off, so similar to using the 3 (or D3 etc) position on a 4 gear box.
I normally just use (D)rive for going forwards - just need to be a bit gentle on the GO pedal when it's a bit slippy (and use the brakes to keep the speed down going downhill).
Only ever used (N)eutral when waiting to pick somebody up and it was cold enough to need the heater...0 -
So is N basically a waste of time?

will report back my fun (if I make it back in one piece tomorrow). I will be keeping it in D all the way, as it seems I strictly dont have to make use of anything else until I get a good read of the manual. Thanks for the good hints everyone!
You can use N, for example, if you're in a traffic jam and sitting around for more than 5 minutes. For normal driving however, keep it in D for traffic light phases.0
