BT charge for changing to SKY

I received a letter from BT on 28th November for £25.00 for changing my Broadband to SKY. I rang BT to ask why and was told that apparently I did not request a MAC code or go through the correct procedure for stopping my service with BT, despite the fact that I was told by SKY that they would do whatever was necessary. I told BT that I have been with SKY since August and sent them a copy of my SKY bills. I have now had a letter from a Debt Collection agency for £35.85 (the oustanding bill plus admin costs). I contacted the DCA and told them I did not owe any money, they told me to contact BT and ask them to confirm this. I have rung BT on numerous occasions, only to get through to an indian call centre, who are no help at all. They will not call the debt collection agency and are insisting I owe £25.00. Has this happened to anyone else and has anyone please got a number for BT where it is answered by someone in the UK who can help. Thanks.

My advise is to pay the £25 and get Sky to reimburse you.
The correct procedure is what you were told by BT.
You were misinformed by Sky, so its hardly BTs fault. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I agree - Sky have misinformed you ... you should have used the MAC process to migrate to Sky0

Reminds me of a good movie quote:-
Captain Renault: What in heaven's name brought you to Casablanca?
Rick: My health. I came to Casablanca for the waters.
Captain Renault: The waters? What waters? We're in the desert.
Rick: I was misinformed. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
