I dont want these to lurk in the freezer for ages, and Ill take them out before bedtime...

Anything that can incorporate store cupbard only would be great, as Im trying my damndest not to spend money :) but if I have to buy a few bits im not too bothered

So gang over to you! What shall I make

I stuck two duck legs in the slow cooker with a diced onion and a jaffa orange which I cut into segments but didn't peel and a splash of boiling water last night. Served it with saute potatoes and baby sweetcorn and asparagus. They were delicious, and dead easy

You could make a sort of cassoulet with some beans, garlic, onions, tomatoes etc and let it all cook slowly - then top with breadcrumbs and brown off.

Im a bit worried about how fatty they are actually.
the amount of fat that came out when I roasted them was a bit scary. It is quite fatty isnt it duck

OH has cholestrol probs so Im guessing slow cooking it might not be a good idea

    Might just roast them *deflated*

    Hi,

Bought a couple of duck legs because they were on offer...then realised I haven't a clue what to do with them! Has anyone any suggestions for a main course for two? Not too difficult please!!

    Thanks

    Hi
I love duck, and if I had a couple of legs I think I'd just pot roast them slowly, with a good seasoning on salt and pepper, maybe a sprig of tyne.

I would put them in a slow oven and allow all the fat to dissolve. (160c)

I love to serve duck with red cabbage (cooked with added onion and apple), and a green veg.

If duck legs are cooked slowly, the meat falls off the bone and melts in the mouth. The skin should crisp and the fat dissolved - you can use a little of the fat and the juices to make a sauce or gravy. Strain the rest of the fat and use at a later date to roast potatos - not quite as good as goose fat, but very nice.

    Hello everybody :-)

I got some duck legs on whoopies and they are currently sitting in the freezer waiting for a weekend when I might actually have time to sit down and enjoy them...

I was planning on just bog standard roasting them but does anyone else have any good recipes?

    Thanks in advance!

    Cassoulet is goooorgeous :)

Id fry the skin side first until brown, then roast them off. Then reduce down some orange in a pan with some butter and flour or some sherry or similar, and add some dried fruit like apricots or whatever. Then when thickened and reduced, drizzle over the duck legs.........mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Id serve it with Tomato, cucumber and raw onion (all finely diced) with some balsamic vinegar with wild rice or mash to soak up the juices. :D
I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:

Oh-duck legs-you have to try this its amazingly tender and delicious. I don't often have the tiny turnips so just cut up slightly bigger ones, same with the carrots. But it is fab :D
