Despite having never ordered a Next Directory catalogue, I did recently receive a Next catalogue. I put it directly in the recycling bin.
Today, I have received a 'Statement' of my account with Next. The outstanding balance is £3.50 for the following ordered goods:
SS/06 DIRECTORY 37 M99999 D.
I have contacted them as follows via their website:
I have not applied to open account with Next but have received a bill for £3.50.
Please close the account and cancel any outstanding balance. I would appeciate confirmation.
I will not charge for this email.
I wonder what their reply will be.

Just ring them up and tell them you never requested the catalogue and you want the amoumt credited back to your account. if you have any problems (should be ok) post again- if they say you did apply for account say you want copy of application. did the same to my friend and they just credited account.0

Probably the reply will be send us the catalogue back and we will refund the monies to you. When I worked for mail order company (not next) it did happen occasionally and that was our stock response. Most of the people had actually asked for the catalogue by entering one of our prize draws and such but hadnt read the small print that by entering you were asking for a catalogue. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Hi everyone! I've just joined this site as I think it's brilliant! Anyway just wanted to let you know that Next did the same thing to me. i.e. sent me a catalogue that I didn't want and a welcome letter charging me 3.75 + pp for it. Being a careful and miserly creature when online (and of course, registered with the mail preference service), I knew that I hadn't asked for this catalogue, especially as the letter was addressed to Mr instead of Miss, so I phoned the customer services number, explained all of this and expressed my bewilderment and disapproval of where Next had got my details from. What a result! The customer advisor immediately apologised and refunded the cost of the catalogue etc to my 'account' with Next (the confirmation letter came through a few days later). I haven't heard anything since!0

You should have kept it available to collect at their own expense.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0

I once got a catalogue aswell, put it in the bin too, refused to pay and they went away. After that i ordered a dyson, and for some strange reason they never asked me to pay for it, that was 3 years ago, still going strong!!! I love a freebie!!!0

I just love it when fate deals its own kind of justice! :rotfl:

at the end of the day, when you applied for the cat, it states there is a charge. Why did you apply, if you don't accept the charge? Simple: sign the cat request form, you accept the charge. Don't sign, you don't accept the charge. whats complicated about that!!?The views expressed on this website, be they in text, pictures or sound, are my own personal views.
