Is it worth waiting for the sales to buy a decent 42" TV?

Not sure weather to buy the TV now for xmas, or wait?
If they only going to drop around £50 - £60 then I'm not to bothered!
Any advice?

I don't know for sure about this, but my thinking about the price of TVs after Christmas is :
Freeview will be starting H-D transmissions in the early part of next year.
Current tuners (whether integrated into the TV or a separate box) will not be able to decode that signal.
Currently, all HD-Ready TVs in dealers' showrooms or already in peoples' homes will not be able to pick up the Freeview HD signal and so will need a separate, add-on box.
This means that all the "HD-Ready" stock that dealers currently have will be out of date next year so, after Christmas, they will have to seriously discount them to get rid of them before the new stock of sets arrive that can pick up the Freeview HD signal.
I'd wait and see what happens......0 -

What if the TV had Freesat built in, would this be able to pick the freeview HD signals up?
Unfortunately not.
Freesat and Freeview are 2 different systems.
Freesat requires the box/TV to be hooked up to a satellite dish
Freeview requires an aerial to work
You can currently buy TV's with Freesat HD tuners in them, so if you go down that route your pretty much future proofed
If as previously stated, you buy a TV with a Freeview tuner built in, within a couple of months it will be outdated, as the new TVs with the new Freeview HD tuners are not out until Easter 2010 BUT the Freeview HD boxes will appear on shelves from February
hope that helps0 -
