That's typical of Christians isn't it? So inconsiderate of them to spoil Christmas by observing the Sabbath.

They could well be closing stores as they come up for their leases to be renewed, but as I say, this is the only toy shop in town, except Tesco which does not have a huge selection, just one short aisle.

What about Toys R Us, I know its not in the town centre but its not that long a walk to get to and they have a much wider range.

Helix, I know you are right but while the range is good the service on the tills is dismal and you can spend ages trying to get served while they faff around. And then getting the stuff from 'the counter' is another wait. I would only choose to go there if I have vouchers really.

However..... they send the £5 off vouchers for DD birthday and one for Xmas and I get to use them both when I spend £30 so I do some shopping in there.

Went to Argos at 1.00 today and I got to the till straightaway, no queues. It is very quiet.

Aparently they are closing down because the rent on the shop has gone sky high, was told this by a shop assistant when i was in there last week. They are all loosing their jobs. Don't think they will be reopening anywhere else in stevenage which is a real shame as there are not many toy shops to go to now apart from the big one in town!

Given this information i dont think its going anywhere. Like previous poster has said it could merely be a case of relocation.

Another empty shop then - the whole of the town is starting to fill up with shops selling tat or that are empty. You'd think the would want brand stores to keep on bringing people in. There are more tat shops than there are high street shops now, how do they keep on going? Unless they are getting the rents for free. Makes no sense to me.
