HI first thing not one person is valued in this company.
second i have been told by the MD that it will not be authed so do i now go to the company that own us and send an e-mail to the managing director

Mmmmm, sounds like a delightful company (not).

Truly if I literally were you, I'd just take the time off. I wouldn't talk about it any more, not discuss it with ANYONE (important bit that), I'd just do it.

Worst off you're going to get a written warning. If they give you the sack then that's just a little bit heavy handed of them and sends out a terrible message to the entire company, "If any of you have any personal circumstances and need time off, under no circumstances can you have it, we are more important than you!!"

If I was interviewing you for a job and you told me you lost your job due to these circumstances then I'd employ you. I like predictable people, they can be argumentative, difficult, whatever they like, as long as they're good with the customers and are reliable. But I'm not everyone unfortunately.

Hope this helps out a little bit here. But if I were you I'd just do it and not worry about it. Your personal needs are more important than the financial needs of company shareholders. If they didn't want to deal with people and people-type-things then what the hell did they start a company for!? :)

Yes there is that. On the other hand I might not take the time off and just get another job.

It all depends on your status within the company and how crucial you are to them. Only you have the answers to those two. Admittedly here I'm quite bold in that I do just what I feel like doing, with 99% of the time (convieniently) being in line with those whom I work for at that time. There have been companies I've not seen eye to eye with though, have actually been prised out of a couple. Usually small companies with big ideas, and MD's with big cars and pet dogs.

earlier today i feel i had prof handed to me that the reason i was not allowed the holiday i had booked was a personal matter not a short staff matter.

what do you all think of this?

i booked holiday about 2 weeks ago asking for the fri 30/06/06 and the week after off to move house this was refused.

and today after speaking to a team mate of mine someone else has managed to book the fri 30/06/06 off just 1 day ago seems very stange to me i thought they were short staffed???

I obviously cant speak for your company but certainly with my previous jobs if you had request to book 30-06-06 to 07-07-06 (or what ever the dates are) and we couldnt give you the full time off we would simply of come back and said no. That isnt to say that every single individual day is not available but that the complete booking isnt. We didnt ask the reason why you wanted holiday and so would have no idea if simply having the Friday, Tues, Wed and Friday off would suite you or not.... on the basis you have asked for 10 days off most people would probably assume it wouldnt.
