Thank you to everyone for the advice, I'll see what can be done in the short time available.
Apologies - reading my post back, it does seem that I'm having a go at you for letting him have the bike - I meant the idiot that sold him the bike in the first place! In the beginning, the universe was created. Now I know he deserves a good ticking off and will get a sizable fine/points etc, and I know he's learned his lesson.
The problem is he has no MOT, insurance and no CBT on his license! Now the bike has been impounded at a cost of £150 + £10/day storage. We only have 10 days to get it out or it will be crushed !!!
I can't see a way to get it out? I don't think I can even pick it up in a van as I would need some kind of special insurance to retrieve vehicles from an impound.
I hold a full drivers liscence but would need a CBT to ride the bike out myself.
How can I get it out of the pound for him??:wall:
They probably won't let you ride it out even if you had CBT - it has no MoT therefore illegal to use on the road!C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

i've not read every post, but the best way is to find a friendly mechanic with a van, get him to collect it and MOT it and drop it off at your home, this should satisfy the police
where abouts in the country are you?0 -

Yes, that bit of the Road Traffic Act applies to vehicles.
Driving other motorbikes insurance is not universal though (I don't have that cover with ebike).0 -
He's 22, let him sort himself out.
I'm 26, been riding for 10 years (own a GSXR600 now - hence my name) and my parents don't look after my stuff for me.
He needs to find a mate who can help him out with the van situation, but i suspect he won't know anyone who can help him out.
Best of luck with Divboy ;o)0 -

I have seen mechanics with trade plates being refused release of a bike for someone else Idon't know the specific grounds though.
Let it be crushed.

No, you ride my old bike's big sister (SV650S 2001 model) :beer:0 -

But it is fraud if you make a "false" appointment just to ride it on the road - the Road Traffic Act is very clear stating "to and from a test station for the purpose of being tested and return"
And more to the point - the original point was that they are NOT going for an MoT, they were collecting it from an inpound yard!C. (Ex-Pat Brit)
